Patent number: 7672610Abstract: Techniques for attaching a replacement chip to an imaging cartridge are described. An exemplary method of modifying a toner hopper assembly for use in a toner cartridge consists of providing the toner hopper assembly having a generally cylindrical shape and an at least partially non-functioning electronic chip with electrical contacts disposed in an endplate section of the generally cylindrical shape. The method further modifies the toner hopper assembly by affixing a replacement chip to the toner hopper assembly to form a modified toner hopper assembly. The replacement chip includes replacement electrical contacts which allow the replacement chip to communicate with a printer when the modified toner cartridge is installed in the printer.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2007Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Static Control Components, Inc.Inventors: Anthony D. Causey, Lawrence Dale Lewis, Matthew J. Morton, Lynton R. Burchette, William E. Thacker, III

Publication number: 20090190935Abstract: A universal cartridge chip for use with an imaging process cartridge installed in an imaging device is disclosed. The universal cartridge chip includes a memory storing imaging process cartridge data. The universal cartridge chip may be installed on the imaging process cartridge in a first orientation or a second orientation. If the cartridge chip is installed in a first orientation, the cartridge chip operates in a first mode. If the cartridge chip is installed in a second orientation the cartridge chip operates in a second mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2009Publication date: July 30, 2009Applicant: STATIC CONTROL COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: William E. Thacker, Lynton R. Burchette

Patent number: 6519530Abstract: A remote location system for communicating location information between a movable remote location device that generates such location information and a location service includes at least one remote location device having detecting means for determining a location of a remote location device, communication capability for communicating the location information to the service and from the service to a user of the service, and intelligent location agent means in the form of algorithms for selectively defining location information in terms of location event data to be communicated to the locator service. The intelligent location agent algorithms define location event data to include a remote locator device crossing a specified boundary as established by the location service; traveling a specified distance from a prior location; and exceeding a specified velocity.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: eWatchdogs, Inc.Inventors: Patrick W. Crockett, William E. Thacker
