Publication number: 20150335777Abstract: A process challenge device includes a controllable response produced by using a filter material, configured such that a sterilant gas must pass through the filter material to reach the biological indicator (BI). The filter material provides a controllably absorptive barrier, where the absorption of the sterilant is via chemical reaction, through which the sterilant gas must pass to reach the BI.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 3, 2014Publication date: November 26, 2015Inventors: Elizabeth Robbins, Evan M. GOULET, Colleen Robertson, David B. Opie, William E. Waters

Publication number: 20150110670Abstract: A system and method for decontamination of isolation enclosures includes a recirculating isolator configured to allow injection of a sterilant gas into the isolator. Levels of humidity and sterilant gas are selected to avoid condensation of either within the isolator. In an embodiment, a positive pressure is maintained throughout the sterilization process.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 17, 2012Publication date: April 23, 2015Inventors: David Opie, Evan M. Goulet, Blaine G. Doletski, William E. Waters

Publication number: 20140301895Abstract: A sterilization system includes a plurality of modular gas impermeable chambers separable by doors movable between an open position in which gas may flow freely between the adjacent chambers and a closed position in which gas flow between the adjacent chambers is prevented. A conveyor system carries objects between the chambers. Sterilant gas is controllably deliverable to at least one of the chambers. Objects are conveyed between the chambers to execute a sterilization operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2012Publication date: October 9, 2014Applicant: Noxilizer Inc.Inventors: David B. Opie, Evan M. Goulet, Blaine G. Doletski, William E. Waters

Patent number: 6772551Abstract: A fish-activated hook setting assembly for holding a strung fishing pole and automatically setting the hook when a fish strikes the bait affixed thereto. The device is rugged and simple to operate. The device allows the fisherman to cast his line in a normal fashion and thereafter reeve his baited fishing line into an anchoring slot and through a hook in the trigger mechanism and then rest the fishing pole on the device if desired. Upon a strike by a fish, the device in response to the thrust of a fish automatically releases a spring-biased setting arm which pulls the hook into the fish's jaw and secures the catch. The device is readily adaptable to lake fishing from the shore or a boat and to ice fishing.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2000Date of Patent: August 10, 2004Inventors: Richard D. J. Bielinski, Sr., William E. Waters

Patent number: 5120148Abstract: Applicator assembly comprising a container for liquids having a bottom wall member, a cap member having means for detachably securing it over a discharge opening in the container. An upstanding wall and a bottom wall having an upstanding post member having an opening communicating with the interior of the container define a measuring chamber for a predetermined measured quantity of the liquid with a cylindrical wall portion of the cap member. An elongated tubular member is mounted in the opening in the post member extending downwardly into the container adjacent the lowest portion of the bottom wall member. A valve seat plate member is mounted at the open end of the cylindrical wall portion and has a wall portion terminating in a valve opening which is tapered towards the valve opening and functions as a funnel during discharge of contents to ensure complete transfer from the measuring chamber to a dispensing chamber above the measuring chamber.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1991Date of Patent: June 9, 1992Assignee: The West Company, IncorporatedInventors: William E. Waters, Arlington R. Harman, Jr., Joseph M. Voytilla, Peter Friedrich, Ralph G. Walters

Patent number: 5100010Abstract: A cap assembly for use with a container having a stopper and a closure including a cap defining a chamber above a stopper. The cap on said closure, said cap including an access disc penetrable by a syringe position in alignment with the stopper for access to the container by the syringe. The assembly further including vent ports for communication between the chamber and the atmosphere. Finally there is a filter in the chamber for filtering gas flow through the vent port.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1990Date of Patent: March 31, 1992Assignee: The West Company, IncorporatedInventor: William E. Waters

Patent number: 4744790Abstract: A holder for cartridges or containers for medicaments in injectable form comprising an elongated housing having a pocket for the cartridge, a head assembly including an elongated plunger rod adapted to be attached to the cartridge plunger for actuating the same to effect discharge of medicament from the cartridge and means operatively connecting the head assembly to one end of the housing for actuating a shank portion of the head assembly axially (longitudinally) in the housing. The head assembly and housing is made of dissimilar materials to facilitate relative rotation of the head assembly and housing and resist slippage when the shank exerts an axial force on the cartridge to seat it in the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1986Date of Patent: May 17, 1988Assignee: The West CompanyInventors: George Jankowski, Michael G. Maietta, William E. Waters

Patent number: 4388076Abstract: An intubating device has a flexible tube with an open proximal end and a discharge opening adjacent its distal end. A hollow stylet connector plug is removably secured to the proximal end of the tube. A stylet is secured to the plug and extends through the interior of the tube to a point adjacent the distal end of the tube. The stylet has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the tube and smaller than the inner diameter of the plug to permit the passage of fluid between the stylet and the tube and between the stylet and the plug. A hollow connector fitting is integral with the plug and has a passage communicating with the interior of the plug. A stop accurately locates the stylet with respect to the tube preferably extending the tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1981Date of Patent: June 14, 1983Assignee: Biosearch Medical Products Inc.Inventor: William E. Waters
