  • Patent number: 7982140
Abstract: A weigh scale including a weighing mechanism; a recording system connected to the weighing mechanism for recording a weight; a comparator connected to the weighing mechanism and the recording mechanism for determining a difference between weights; and an indicator in communication with the comparator for indicating a difference in weights, wherein the weighing mechanism, recording system, comparator and indicator are configured to: measure an initial weight of a subject without indicating the weight and store the weight in the recording system; measure a subsequent weight of the subject without indicating the weight; determine a difference between the initial weight and the subsequent weight; and indicate the difference in weight between the initial weight and the subsequent weight only when the subsequent weight is one of greater or less than the initial weight.

  • Patent number: 4881990
Abstract: The dissolved oxygen content in a bath of molten steel is controlled, in one embodiment, by diluting a slag layer atop the bath with an oxide such as lime (CaO), to reduce the percentage of MnO and FeO in the slag, and stirring the bath of molten steel. In another embodiment, a gaseous mixture of an inert gas and carbon monoxide is disequilibrium with the carbon and dissolved oxygen content is bubbled through the bath.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 24, 1988
Date of Patent: November 21, 1989
    Assignee: Inland Steel Company

  • Patent number: 4331649
Abstract: Method for the estimation of immune complex and analysis of a constituent thereof. Method comprises a latex particle agglutination test in which a reagent comprising low affinity latex particles is contacted with a sample containing immune complex. The low affinity coated latex particles are latex particles coated with IgG antibodies to the complex constituent and may be prepared by contacting latex particles with the IgG antibodies, the latter optionally being substituted with a coupling agent. One or more reagents are conveniently provided in kit form.
