  • Publication number: 20050201104
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a lamp housing is provided that blocks light and dissipates heat. The lamp housing encases or is integral to a reflector, and has an inner surface that absorbs radiation emitted by the lamp burner and an outer surface that allows for improved heat dissipation through radiation and convection means. The inner surface absorbs radiation and the outer surface is enlarged with a plurality of formations for improved heat dissipation through radiation and convection means. The housing also blocks stray visible light from escaping, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for light leakage systems.

  • Publication number: 20010052449
Abstract: Lightweight moulded pulp trays or the like are attracted upward from transport on the upper side of a first conveyor to contact with the underside of the lower run of the perforated conveyor belt of a vacuum transfer mechanism by means of vacuum conditions transmitted through groups of perforations in said perforated belt, the location of said perforations in each group, and the timing of vacuum conditions transmitted through each perforation in each group being arranged to lift the forward and rearward proportions of each said product simultaneously with continuous support during transport to a selected location for simultaneous release of vacuum support for said forward and rearward portions of each said product, whereby to provide a level lift and drop-off for each product.

  • Patent number: 6274664
Abstract: A free-flowing granular polymer composition suitable for incorporation into a particulate detergent composition comprises a defined dye-transfer-inhibiting polymer, preferably poly(4-vinylpyridine) sodium carboxymethyl betaine chloride, and a silica-based carrier material. A preferred carrier material is an acidic silica. The silica-based carrier material may optionally comprise a solid acid, for example, polyacrylic acid or phthalic acid.

  • Patent number: 6158587
Abstract: Resiliently expandable sleeves to locate and protectively separate from each other bottles or other articles placed vertically in a container are each comprised of at least three side walls connected to each other at their adjacent edges, each said side wall being tapered from the width at its upper edge to a lesser width at its lower end, the dimensions of the opening at the top of each said sleeve formed by said upper edges being designed to provide free entry of said article into said tapered sleeve, with further insertion of said article into said sleeve causing each of said side walls to be resiliently deflected outwardly, thereby to create a grasping pressure over the area of contact between the outer surface of said article, and the inner surface of each of said side walls.

  • Patent number: 5833805
Abstract: A unique method of producing a reinforced moulded sheet having one continuously planar face and having a plurality of ribs or thickened areas which provide a corresponding plurality of prominences directed outwardly of the other face, said prominences having predetermined shapes, locations and dimensions to serve as reinforced areas for said sheet. And a series of new or improved composite hollow moulded panels, each comprised of at least two co-extensive elements, each of said panels being reinforced and improved by the provision of at least one of said reinforced moulded sheets as an external element of said at least two co-extensive elements, the ribs or thickened areas of said reinforced sheet being glued internally of said hollow panel to the adjacent co-extensive element thereof.

  • Patent number: 5690232
Abstract: Resilient wraparound cushion packing elements which can be fitted around and between miscellaneous articles in a container, said packing elements having resilient properties capable of maintaining a continuing cushioning pressure around and about said miscellaneous articles sufficient to separate and protect them from injurious contact with each other or with the walls of said container.

  • Patent number: 5046887
Abstract: A guttered paving block which can interlock with identical paving blocks in only one way to simply the assembly of a ground cover consisting of a square narrow waisted portion and a pair of oppositely situated extended head portions with pointed ends. The narrow waist portion makes the block easy to pick up with one hand. Dummy grooves which are parallel are provided to facilitate the manufacture of the block. Another embodiment is designed to permit a large number of patterns when assembled. It consists of a rectangular portion with a smaller square portion appended to one side of the rectangular portion.

  • Patent number: 4010358
Abstract: An improved process and apparatus for measuring fuel octane numbers in a knock test engine of a multiplicity of fuels, using at least one fuel of known octane number as a reference, wherein fuel feed means, memory means, and calculating means cooperate so that the fuel feed means selects the fuel source and the fuel feed-rate for that fuel source, the memory means receives the knock intensity values generated in the test engine and the corresponding fuel feed-rate settings, the calculating means (a) determines the approximate feed-rate setting that corresponds to the maximum knock intensity, (b) provides a series of feed-rate settings bracketing said approximate feed-rate setting and generates a corresponding set of knock intensity values, (c) determines the refined feed-rate setting that corresponds to maximum knock intensity, (d) sends said setting to the memory means for storage, and (e) from the knock intensities that are generated during subsequent comparison of the fuels of known and unknown octane numb
