    Abstract: An aerosol provision system for generating an aerosol for user inhalation comprises a cartridge comprising a housing containing an aerosolizable material, and an aerosol provision device having an interface configured operatively to receive the cartridge. The aerosol provision device is configured in use to cause the aerosolizable material to generate the aerosol for user inhalation by providing heat/power to the aerosol generating material. The cartridge includes a data storage unit configured to store information relating to the cartridge, the aerosol provision device being configured to detect the identifier stored in the data storage unit when cartridge is received by the aerosol provision device. Embodiments of the present technique can be arranged to provide a cartridge with data storage unit integrally formed with one or more walls of the cartridge's housing.
