  • Patent number: 12493915
Abstract: A multivariate predictive system processes usage based data that includes a database engine that provides access to a plurality of database management systems that mine diverse sources of usage based data. A digital filter selectively filters data streams that include usage based data. A sampler automatically divides the filtered data into sample groups and stores the sample groups in a memory. The sampler divides the filtered data according to insurance rating variables processed by a processor programmed to underwrite an insurance product and rate that insurance product. Some samplers store the divided filter data in a local memory. A multiplier multiples rating factors preprogrammed with the insurance rating variables with a base rate of insurance to determine an insured's insurance premium.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 9, 2025
    Assignee: PROGRESSIVE CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANY
Inventors: Richard Hutchinson, William Everett, David Pratt, Raymond Ling

  • Patent number: 9020873
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture provide for implementing a decision engine using a finite state machine for conducting randomized experiments. According to some embodiments, methods may include initializing a decision engine comprising at least one state machine, receiving information defining for the at least one state machine, states and transitions between the states, receiving information defining at least one set of weighted choices, receiving an indication of an occurrence of an event, executing the decision engine to select randomly using the at least one state machine a weighted choice based on the event, and transmitting to the application an indication of the identified random choice.

  • Patent number: 8758618
Abstract: The installation comprises three reaction vessels (100, 200, 300) in series, each containing an aqueous phase and a specific bacterial population. The vessels serve in succession to dissolve the liquid feedstock for treatment by enzymatic hydrolysis, then to biodegrade the resulting effluent by biological digestion, and finally to reduce the residual bacterial components by biological action. The vessels are mutually isolated by tangential filters (108, 208, 308) and by centrifugal separators (212, 312) for filtering the biomass from the reaction products. The result is a final liquid effluent (EFF/N) that is essentially non-organic, with the filtered biomass downstream constituting an ultimate organic waste (DU) of reduced volume.

  • Publication number: 20060266965
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated valve is provided formed from three elements, an armature pivot assembly forming a poppet valve member and encapsulated in thermoplastic material, a first body member forming one part of a valve chamber with the valve seat to a fluid port and including an encapsulated solenoid, and a second body member forming another part of a valve chamber for containing the poppet valve member relative to another fluid port. The solenoid operates to pivot the poppet valve member. The fluid flowing through the valve is isolated from metallic components, magnet flux and heat. The assembly is of simplified construction and maintenance.
