Patent number: 10805799Abstract: Systems and methods validate that a subscriber identity module (SIM) number of an end device connected to a network is the same number that was activated for that device. A network device obtains a SIM number and a device universal identifier (UID) during an activation procedure. The network device generates a unique SIM authentication code based on the SIM number, the UID, and a master key. The network device sends the SIM authentication code to the end device during activation. After activation, the network device receives, from the end device, an authentication message that includes a first one-time password (OTP), the UID, a time value, the SIM number, and the SIM authentication code. The network device generates a second OTP based on the UID, the time value, the SIM number, and the master key and validates pairing of the end device and the SIM number when the two OTPs match.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2019Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Brent R. Publication number: 20180373953Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium each provide an object recognition service that identifies an object within an image or a video. An object is identified according to a general classification based on a domain-based inference model, and is subsequently further identified according to a sub-classification of the general classification based on another domain-based inference model. The domain-based inference models are hierarchical. The object recognition of the object may be used in support of end user services.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2017Publication date: December 27, 2018Inventors: Luis M. Tomotaki, William F. Patent number: 9948497Abstract: A system for and method of automatic discovery and configuration of network interface devices is presented. A network interface device (NID) may be included a pre-configured maintenance entity end point (MEP), whereby upon use, the NID may begin sending at least one discovery message to a provider edge device, each discovery message including an organizationally unique identifier. The provider edge device may strip the discovery message(s) to determine the message content, which may then be forwarded to a NIS management system. The NID management system may then identify an identification number of the NID, determine where the NID is installed and send any configuration data to the NID via the provider edge device to configure the NID.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Michael U. Bencheck, Matthew W. Turlington, Vincent A. Alesi, Richard Schell, William F. Copeland

Patent number: 9515985Abstract: A device receives data from a user device, where the data is associated with a customer address, and the customer address is associated with the user device. The device verifies that the customer address is associated with a customer that subscribes to a private cloud service. The device translates, when the customer address is verified, the customer address to an address that is unique to a customer virtual route forwarding (VRF) function provide by the device. The device provides, based on translating the customer address, the data to the customer VRF function via the unique address. The device routes, based on providing the data to the customer VRF function, the data to the private cloud service via the customer VRF function and a secure connection.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2013Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignee: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.Inventors: Richard C. Patent number: 9426069Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for routing traffic between Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) devices. In one aspect, a method for routing traffic includes receiving traffic from a routing device associated with a customer. A control portion of the traffic may include an imported route target. The method further includes, based on the route target in the control portion of the traffic, consulting a table to determine an exported route target and, based on the determined exported route target, determining a destination device and routing the traffic to that device. In some embodiments, routing and/or destination devices may be provisioned to the customer on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis. Systems and computer-readable media are also disclosed for implementing the above-described method.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2013Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventor: William F. Patent number: 8934335Abstract: An approach is provided for improving network restoration by enhancing loop free alternative coverage. A loop-free alternate (LFA) procedure is initiated for a failed link of a network including a plurality of nodes. A state of incomplete loop-free alternate coverage for the nodes is determined. A shortest path in the network exclusive of the nodes associated with the failed link is determined. Each node along the determined shortest path is set as an explicit route object to create a bypass label switched path for the network.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2011Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Ning So, William F. Patent number: 3937449Abstract: Apparatus for atomizing and injecting fuel into a furnace, such as a blast furnace, in which two concentric tubes form a dual passage injection apparatus, the discharge end of the outer tube extending beyond the discharge end of the inner tube to form an atomization chamber. The central passageway conducts liquid fuel to its discharge end and the annular passageway conducts an atomizing fluid to its discharge end. A spray nozzle is mounted on the discharge end of the inner tube and has a plurality of atomizing passages inclined toward the longitudinal axis of the concentric tubes whereby the liquid fuel is atomized completely within the length of the outer tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1974Date of Patent: February 10, 1976Assignee: United States Steel CorporationInventors: William F.
