  • Patent number: 7750642
Abstract: A magnetic flowmeter is provided including a magnetic flowtube arranged to receive a flow of process fluid. The magnetic flowtube includes a drive coil and at least one sense electrode. Measurement circuitry is coupled to the flowtube and is configured to provide a drive signal to the drive coil and measure flow of process fluid through the flow tube based upon an output from the sense electrode. A memory contains a stored value related to a nominal parameter of the flowtube. Verification circuitry is arranged to measure a parameter of the magnetic flowtube and responsively provide a verification output related to operation of the magnetic flowmeter based upon a comparison of the measured parameter and the stored value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 2007
Date of Patent: July 6, 2010
    Assignee: Rosemount Inc.
Inventors: William F. Graber, Scot R. Foss, Robert K. Schulz
  • Patent number: 7637170
Abstract: A vortex flowmeter measures process fluid flow. The vortex flowmeter includes a conduit that carries the process fluid. A sensing device is housed in a cavity of a sensor body that is coupled to the conduit. A flexure is disposed in a portion of the conduit. The flexure is configured to isolate the process fluid in the conduit from the sensing device. A pathway extends from the cavity to an outer surface of the sensor body.

    Filed: September 14, 2007
Date of Patent: December 29, 2009
    Assignee: Rosemount Inc.
Inventors: Jeffry D. Foster, Christopher J. Brand, William F. Graber

  • Patent number: 7349872
Abstract: A method for comparing and selecting process control apparatus is disclosed. The method employs software, executed on a stand-alone computer device, or accessible through the web, to retrieve data specific to a given process control environment, and calculate the performance characteristics of multiple types of process control equipment capable of meeting the demands of the application. The performance characteristics of each type can be provided in graphical form, at the same time, to enable a potential consumer to readily discern the advantages and disadvantages of each type of process control apparatus. In one embodiment, a purchase of the apparatus may then be made.
