  • Patent number: 7073248
Abstract: A resin fixture that is inserted into a stator for an electric motor for a pump for the purpose of insulating the stator with resin. The resin fixture includes a rubber cover that is inflated. The fixture thereby prevents the stator bore from filling with resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 2003
Date of Patent: July 11, 2006

  • Publication number: 20020048129
Abstract: A safety circuit for an electric motor. The electric motor includes at least one power input, at least one motor winding and an input ground. The safety circuit includes a relay coupled to the power input and the input ground, and a transistor switch coupled to the relay, the power input and the motor winding. If the relay becomes decoupled from input ground, then the transistor switch will be closed, thus preventing power from the power input from reaching the motor winding.

  • Patent number: 5820271
Abstract: A thrust bearing assembly (4), used to counteract axial thrust on a rotary shaft (10, 26), includes a base element (28) to which an articulated element (38) is mounted. The articulated element has a first sliding support surface (76). A rotating element (86), rotatable about a main axis (12), has a second sliding support surface (90) in contact with the first sliding support surface. The base element also has an alignment element (34) circumscribing the periphery of the articulated element. A stabilizer element (56, 78) is situated between and is in contact with both the articulated element and the alignment element. The articulated element can be either a single piece element (38a) or a multiple piece element (38) to provide the desired multi-axis articulated support.

  • Patent number: 5378121
Abstract: A pump including a submersible motor sealed within a motor chamber, an impeller rotatably mounted in an impeller chamber, and motor and impeller shafts coupled to one another to interconnect the motor and impeller. The impeller pumps fluid from the impeller chamber into the motor chamber where the fluid flows around the motor to cool the motor and muffle the motor noise before being discharged from the pump. The impeller shaft is rotatably mounted in a bearing fixed to the impeller housing and having grooves facing the shaft and providing fluid communication between the impeller and motor chambers. Fluid flows into the grooves from the impeller or motor chamber depending on the pressure gradient across the bearing, which varies according to downstream pump conditions (e.g., pressure). As the impeller shaft continues to rotate, fluid from the grooves forms a thin lubricating film in the clearance space provided between the impeller shaft and bearing.
