  • Publication number: 20170059804
Abstract: A method for securing a fiber optic component includes: providing a holding medium having a tack and mounted on a substrate; and placing the fiber optic component in intimate contact with the holding medium to thereby secure the fiber optic component to the substrate. The tack of the holding medium releasably bonds the fiber optic component to the holding medium and the holding medium retains its tack upon removal of the fiber optic component to permit re-placement of the fiber optic component or placement of a further fiber optic component on the holding medium to secure said fiber optic component or further fiber optic component to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9343882
Abstract: The disclosed power cable enables optical fibers to be installed after the power cable has been installed, thereby forming a hybrid cable. Segments of the power cable are manufactured with fiber installation tubes containing pulling members. When the power cable segments are coupled together, the fiber installation tubes and pulling members also are coupled together to form a fiber installation conduit and an extended pulling member. A fiber pull arrangement can be coupled to the extended pulling member and drawn through the fiber installation conduit within the power cable at any time subsequent to installation of the power cable.

  • Patent number: 9217828
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a fiber optic network includes a furcation tube having a first end and a second end. An optical fiber passes through the furcation tube, the optical fiber having an end portion that extends outwardly beyond the second end of the furcation tube. A heat-recoverable tube fixes the optical fiber relative to the furcation tube adjacent the second end of the furcation tube, the heat-recoverable tube having a first portion affixed to the furcation tube and a second portion affixed to the end portion of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 6700965
Abstract: A method and a system for utilizing an interactive identity for an automated transaction are disclosed. User identification information is received. A pre-selected identity that is associated with the user identification information is retrieved. The pre-selected identity is utilized for interaction with a user for an automated transaction. The pre-selected identities can be stored in a database indexed by user identification information. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, selectable options for identities are provided to the user and the selected options form the basis for determination of a pre-selected identity for the user. The pre-selected identity can be one of an audio-based, a video-based, and a multimedia-based identity.
