The setting includes a base that is formed from a flat piece of metal, which is bent into the shape of a box having an open top. Two arcuate members are provided along the top edges of the box. A gemstone is placed into the open top of the box and the two arcuate members are bent over the top of the stone to retain it in the setting. Also, the method of stamping the blank that is suited for bending into the setting described above. Finally, forming a chain using a plurality of settings and gemstones that can be further incorporated into a finished piece of jewelry.
