  • Publication number: 20080258038
Abstract: A retainer apparatus and method is disclosed for retaining a form mold in a selected position that includes a beam having a longitudinal axis and a retaining member slidably engaged to the beam allowing for free movement along the longitudinal axis when said retaining member is in a free state. The retaining member has a lengthwise axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis in the free state, with the retaining member also including a leg substantially parallel to the lengthwise axis, the leg extending from the slidable engagement and terminating in a form mold interface portion. The retaining member also including a head portion extending from the slidable engagement being substantially oppositely disposed from the leg. The retainer apparatus is place into the locked state by applying a force to the leg to substantially lock the slidable engagement and retaining the form mold.

  • Publication number: 20020136001
Abstract: A low-profile fluorescent luminaire for attachment to a suspended ceiling and methods for retrofitting the luminaire to an existing lighting system. The low-profile fluorescent luminaire has lightweight “I”-shaped framework comprising a pair of transversely-extending end plates attached adjacent to opposed longitudinal ends of a longitudinally-extending spine. The spine and the end plates have a substantially coplanar arrangement to provide a low-profile structure that closely conforms to the ceiling. The “I”-shaped framework supports a reflector positioned below the spine and end plates when the luminaire is in a supported functional position. The low-profile luminaire can be retrofitted to a suspended ceiling to replace the existing light fixtures or to supplement the light output of an existing lighting system without modifying or removing the existing lighting fixtures.

  • Patent number: 6118589
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for scanning documents, and creating holographic and panoramic images. The apparatus provides two sets of prisms, one set of which is made of electro-optical material. The prisms are arranged in alternating rows to form a sheet. The prism sheet can be laid flat or rolled into a cylinder. A sequencer is used to activate individual electro-optical prisms so that the image is reflected into the sheet. A second prism is used to reflect the image into an image receptor such as a camera. By sequentially activating the electro-optical prisms, successive image portions of an object or objects can be presented to the image receptor. If the image receptor accepts digital input, the sequential images can be post-processed in a microprocessor to create a holographic or panoramic image. Similarly, images of documents can also be scanned and the images received can be digitized for processing, storage and/or transmission.

  • Patent number: 5972207
Abstract: A large pore volume catalyst was used for reforming heavy cracked naphtha. The average pore diameter is preferably between about 110 to 150 Angstroms. Improved catalytic stability and improved liquid yield was achieved. As a result of the improvement a 101 RON debutanized naphtha reformate is produced at a reduced catalyst aging rate.

  • Patent number: 5811755
Abstract: Aluminum-lithium plates are butt-welded by juxtaposing the plates and making a preliminary weld from the rear or root side of the seam. An initial weld is then made from the face side of the seam, which may cause a defect in the root portion. A full-size X-ray is made and overlain over the seam to identify the defects. The defect is removed from the root side, and rewelded. Material is then removed from the face side, and the cavity is rewelded. The procedure repeats, alternating from the root side to the face side, until the weld is sound.

  • Patent number: 5694963
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for freeze prevention protecting an irrigation system. The response of the apparatus depends on environmental conditions. At a first temperature condition, the irrigation system is shut down. At a lower temperature condition, the system remains shut down and heat is delivered to the above ground portions of the system. In the event temperatures continue to decrease, a full drainage of the above ground portion of the irrigation system will be accomplished and alarm notification will be given.

  • Patent number: 4748318
Abstract: A unitary hand-held wand incorporates two optical inputs with complete optical and electrical isolation between each of the inputs. In the illustrated embodiment the opto-electrical transducers include a light pen assembly and bar code sensor assembly. Each assembly is included within a housing which is divided into two substantially optically isolated cavities. The light pen assembly is disposed in one cavity and the bar code assembly in the other. The electrical portions of the light pen assembly and bar code assembly are each provided with electrical shields which are electrically isolated from their respective assemblies. The shields are in turn selectively coupled either to the power source ground or chassis ground. The light pen assembly and bar code assembly further include high gain preamplifiers which are additionally electrically shielded by a preamplifier shield.
