  • Publication number: 20080069960
Abstract: A composition for coating a metal substrate with a white to off-white or gray colored autodeposited coating comprising water, polymeric resin, HF and pigment particles comprising a core of titanium dioxide, an intermediate zirconia and/or alumina layer, and an outer organic layer, optionally the particles are treated with an anionic surfactant.

  • Publication number: 20080057304
Abstract: A coating composition comprising an aqueous mixture containing acid-stable particles and one or more fluoroacids. The amount of the acid-stable particles in the coating composition is from 0.005% to 8% by weight on a dry weight basis. The acid-stable particles can be selected from aluminum-modified silica particles, nonaluminum-modified silica particles, and organic particles selected from anionically stabilized polymer dispersion particles. The invention is also directed to a coating on a metal substrate. The coating contains acid-stable particles attached to the metal substrate through a metal-oxide matrix. The metal-oxide matrix comprises a metal selected from titanium, zirconium, silicon, hafnium, boron, aluminum, germanium, or tin.

  • Publication number: 20060241005
Abstract: This invention relates to alkaline cleaning solutions for hard surfaces, particularly those of metal objects, which are contaminated with oil or similar materials, effective for cleaning oils from hard surfaces that cause separation of the oil in the cleaner and, when contaminated with the aforementioned oils and passed through an ultra or micro filter, the cleaner and the surfactants therein pass substantially completely through the filter membrane into the permeate leaving contaminants in the filter and/or retentate.

  • Publication number: 20060121284
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, the present invention relates to a increasing the hydrophilicity of an organic surface. One method in accordance with the present invention includes oxidizing at least a portion of the organic surface to form an oxidized surface portion, and treating the oxidized surfaces portion with an aqueous treatment solution comprising water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polyphenol resin. In at least another embodiment, the present invention relates to preventing the formation of coating defects in polymeric coated surfaces. In at least one embodiment, the present invention relates to increasing paint, ink, and adhesive adhesion.
