  • Publication number: 20050056597
Abstract: A system for treating a fluid comprising a treatment chamber; a light source for emitting light, such that at least a portion of the light travels within the treatment chamber; and a treatment area within the treatment chamber; wherein a flow profile of the fluid in the treatment area matches the fluence profile of the light that travels within the treatment area. An apparatus for providing a substantially uniform light treatment of a flowing fluid by providing a light source or sources and establishing (or controlling) the flow such that the combination of light intensity and flow velocity provides substantially uniform treatment (i.e. the faster moving fluid streams are treated at higher intensity and the slower moving fluid streams are treated at lower intensity).

  • Patent number: 6498163
Abstract: This invention provides pyridopyrimidines and 4-aminopyrimidines that are useful for treating cell proliferative disorders, such as cancer and restenosis. We have now discovered a group of 7,8-dihydro-2-(amino and thio)pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines and 2,4-diaminopyrimidines that are potent inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases (cdks) and growth factor-mediated kinases. The compounds are readily synthesized and can be administered by a variety of routes, including orally, and have sufficient bioavailability. This invention provides compounds of Formula I: and Formula II: where W is NH, S, SO, or SO2, R1 includes phenyl and substituted phenyl, R2 includes alkyl and cycloalkyl, R3 includes alkyl and hydrogen, R8 and R9 include hydrogen and alkyl, and Z is carboxy. This invention also provides pharmaceutical formulations comprising a compound of Formula I or II together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent, or excipient therefor.

  • Patent number: 6145968
Abstract: An inkjet printer uses large volume ink reservoir containers to supply ink to ink cartridges located on a movable print carriage. A communication link including tubing sections and quick disconnect fittings couples the large volume ink reservoir containers and the ink cartridges. The printer may be plumbed with more ink supply tubing sections than ink cartridges and ink reservoirs for the provision of different ink types. The changing of sets of large volume ink reservoir containers or sets of ink cartridges is more convenient with the use of quick disconnect fittings.

  • Patent number: 5500126
Abstract: An improved process for removal of metal ions from aqueous solutions is disclosed. Removal of metal ions from aqueous solution, particularly from metal plating waste streams, is achieved by the combined use of polyamines, at levels less than the stoichiometric amount of metal ion, and cation exchangers. Treatment of waste streams with low levels of triethylenetetramine followed by contact with a strong acid cation exchange resin is especially effective in the removal of copper from metal-containing waste streams.
