  • Publication number: 20160357872
Abstract: An event network system can provide user-friendly grouping of articles, or “events views,” which can comprises multiple automatically obtained digital content items related to a specified event. The event network system can accomplish this by discovering digital content, analyzing it, searching for and retrieving additional related digital content, producing an similarity graph indicating the relatedness of identified digital content, and producing event views for sufficiently related digital content items. The event views can encapsulate, summarize, tag, and link the related digital content items in a manner that allows for easy user consumption. The event network system can also determine events to include in a thread of recommended events, e.g. based on an interest score for a user. A user can also search an event network, which can provide suggested results based on a freshness score.

  • Publication number: 20090048860
Abstract: Automatically determining pricing for at least one unit of content that can be selected and licensed or purchased over a network. Pricing is determined based on an initial price, and at least one of the following: a reviewer rating, content activity, or a customer offer price. Each of these factors may be weighted. The initial price may be a minimum price, a maximum price, a suggested price from a content owner, a pre-calculated market price, or other initial price. Content activity generally reflects user behaviors related to a content item, such as selecting a content item from a search results list, saving it as a favorite, returning to view it, placing it in a virtual shopping cart, or licensing it. Content activity combined with reviewer rating and/or offer price, indicates a “snappyness” score. A new price is dynamically calculated based on the initial price and snappyness score.

  • Publication number: 20020152270
Abstract: The present invention provides a system by which customized quality computer-based training (“CBT”) can be presented over a global network such as the Internet with low development costs, low hosting costs, inexpensive class production, and high-quality audio-visual content. A student, having an active connection to the server from a remote client, enters the CBT website and registers as a new student by providing necessary pertinent information to the server host. Upon completion of the registration process, the student begins his or her interaction with the online computer-based training plan. The online plan includes digital images and digital audio that is compressed and transmitted from a host server to the student's computer via the Internet. Better compression provides for a more fluid viewing of the plan without sacrificing image or audio quality.
