Patent number: 4912950Abstract: A lockable buckle includes a body member, a latch member, and a rotary locking member. The body member includes a pair of locking side slots. The latch member includes a pair of resilient arms having raised tab portions thereon for releasably engaging the opposed locking side slots of the body member. The rotary locking member is disposed in the body member and is adapted for rotation therein between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the raised tab portions are permitted to bend inwardly so as to allow insertion or removal of the latch member from the body member. In the second position, the raised tab portions are prevented from bending inwardly, thereby inhibiting disengagement of the latching member from the body member.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1988Date of Patent: April 3, 1990Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: William G. Crowle

Patent number: 4793032Abstract: A buckle device comprising separable cooperating receptacle and clasp members and releasable locking means between the receptacle and the clasp. Said locking means includes a through side locking slot and top locking slot in said receptacle and a resiliently supported locking side tab on said clasp engageble with said side locking slot and a second tab on said clasp engageable with said second locking slot. The locking means on said clasp include cam means for disengaging said second tab from said second slot when pressure is applied to said side locking tab of said clasp.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1986Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 4751772Abstract: An improvement in a buckle of a type comprising a body member and a latch member, which is pivotable in relation to the body member so as to open or close the buckle. A lock pin on one such member must be positively snapped into a lock recess in the other member to close the buckle. The lock pin must be positively snapped out of the lock recess to open the buckle. In a preferred embodiment, the lock pin is one of a pair of lock pins on the latch member, and the lock recess is one of a pair of lock recesses in the body member.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1987Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 4011970Abstract: An overcap for use on dispensing containers which cap offers resistance to attempts by a child to dispense the contents from the container is disclosed. The overcap features an actuator mounted on the container dispensing stem, an outer shell which encloses the actuator and a U-shaped communicator which movably contacts, at its bottom end, the actuator and which has a portion of each vertical leg protruding through apertures in the outer shell. Pressing downward on both of the protruding legs simultaneously will depress the actuator and cause the contents of the container to be dispensed. Application of downward pressure on only one of the protruding legs will not result in depression of the actuator but rather only partial rotation of the communicator on the top of the actuator.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1976Date of Patent: March 15, 1977Assignee: VCA CorporationInventors: William G. Crowle, Efrem M. Ostrowsky

Patent number: 4002275Abstract: A safety dispensing cap for fluid containers is disclosed. The cap features a tubular discharge member, a tubular closing member for attaining a rotating overlying removable fit on the discharge member and an internal latching assembly which is activated or deactivated by rotation of the tubular closing member about the tubular discharge member. The latching assembly comprises an inwardly extending latching lug on the tubular closing member and an outwardly extending latching lug on the tubular discharge member. In the locked position, the discharge latching lug will overlie the closing latching lug thus preventing removal of the closing member from the discharge member. Unlatching of the two members is achieved by a rotation of the closing member until the closing member latching lug is no longer underneath the discharge member closing lug. An indexing assembly can also be provided which will hold the unlocked position.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1975Date of Patent: January 11, 1977Assignee: VCA CorporationInventors: William G. Crowle, Efrem M. Ostrowsky

Patent number: 3954114Abstract: A dispensing holder for lipstick and the like, comprising an essentially cylindrical casing having an opening at one end containing a product-carrying cup which is movable between advanced and retracted positions. A flexible pushpull actuator strap disposed in the casing has one end connected to the cup to actuate the same, and has at its other end a concavo-convex closure member of arcuate cross section. A finger piece extends through a longitudinal slot in the casing and is connected to the strap. The cup, strap and closure member are guided and controlled by an internal guide member which is closely confined within the casing, all in such a manner that the casing can be completely cylindrical. The push-pull strap, when operated by the finger piece, can advance or retract the cup and the product contained therein, and simultaneously effect retracting or advancing movement, respectively of the closure member.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1974Date of Patent: May 4, 1976Assignee: VCA CorporationInventors: Efrem M.
