Abstract: A trough soaking device for use in a process for complete wet removal of asbestos insulation covering from pipes, joints, and valves comprising: a flexible waterproof sheet material having disposed at its shortest ends a strip of sealing means for placement about pre-formed outermost adherent contact points on an asbestos covered pipe, and sleeve means at its longest ends to accommodate insertable support rods; a pair of support rods for insertion into a portion of said sleeve means; and at least a pair of saddles containing arched-out semi-circles for placement over pre-formed innermost adherent contact points on an asbestos covered pipe; said saddles containing slot means disposed at its lengthwise ends to accommodate press-fitting of support rods disposed in said sleeve means when said sealing means of said shortest ends of said waterproof sheet material are sealed together over said pre-formed outermost adherent contact points on said asbestos covered pipe.

Abstract: Method for complete wet removal of asbestos from pipes comprising placing a trough with semi-circular recesses in insertable end walls around a pipe, sealing spaces between recesses and pipe after securing trough to pipe, pouring solution on to trough to immerse pipe and soften asbestos, removing solution, cleaning off asbestos with tool, and wiping pipe with a soaked cloth.

Abstract: Device for use in wet removable of asbestos from pipes comprising a trough having end wall semi-circular recesses for receiving pipes, means for securing the troughs on pipes in manner which allows poured-in aqueous solution to completely immerse pipes and sealing means to prevent leakage of said solution from spaces between semi-circular recesses and pipe.

Abstract: A process for use in wet removal of asbestos from pipes comprising placing a trough about an asbestos covered pipe, securing said trough around said pipe, adhering a continuous seal between trough end walls and said pipe, immersing said pipe in water, to soften said asbestos, draining off the water, removing said asbestos with a tool, and wiping the pipe with an oil or water soaked rag.
