  • Patent number: 6453037
Abstract: The network control system, servicing a long distance carrier switching office, is provided with a caller's automatic number identification (ANI) when a calling party calls a called party. Using a database, a processor of the network control system determines call type characteristics of the telephone call based on the received ANI for wireless and land-line telephone calls. The network control system then returns either an index or routing information to the long distance carrier switching office. After the ANI is screened by the network control system, subsequent call processing takes place in the long distance carrier switching office.

  • Patent number: 5903638
Abstract: A telecommunications system for international routing processes international calls directed to a multi-carrier country. A network control system provides the intelligence needed to weigh all of the applicable information and, based on International Traffic Bid Allocation, returns the routing information to the long distance carrier domestic switch in accordance with an agreement on call allocation between the long distance carrier and the international carrier in the multi-carrier country. Based on the routing information provided by the network control system, the domestic switch subsequently routes the international call to the proper terminating gateway switch and the destination multi-carrier country.

  • Patent number: 5852659
Abstract: A system and method for the switches of a telecommunications network to generate call records for telephone calls using a flexible and expandable record format. Upon receipt of a telephone call, a switch in the network analyzes the telephone call to determine whether the default call record is sufficiently large to store call record information pertaining to the telephone call, or whether the expanded call record must be used to store the call information pertaining to the telephone call. After determining which call record to use, the switch generates the default or expanded call record. The switch sends a billing block, comprised of completed call records, to a billing center upon filling an entire billing block.

  • Patent number: 5757903
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing and routing termination telephone calls is disclosed. A termination telephone call is one that terminates at a specific pre-defined shared or specific pre-defined dedicated termination trunk group. The pre-defined trunk group is connected to a pre-defined termination switching device. A termination telephone number is translated into a termination routing address. The termination telephone call is routed via a telecommunications network to a termination switch as specified by the termination routing address. The call is then terminated to a dedicated or shared trunk group which is also specified by the termination routing address. The dedicated or shared termination trunk group is directly connected to the termination switch.
