  • Publication number: 20130079489
Abstract: A process comprising: a) contacting a polyhydric phenol and an epihalohydrin in the presence of a catalyst under reaction conditions to form an organic feed comprising a bishalohydrin ether and a solvent; b) contacting the organic feed and an aqueous feed comprising an inorganic hydroxide in a reciprocating-plate column reactor under reaction conditions to form a dispersed aqueous phase and an organic product; and c) collecting the organic product comprising an epoxy resin, is disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120283453
Abstract: Use a modified, amine-functionalized anion exchange resin as a catalyst to produce a bishalohydrin ether and then dehydrohalogenate the bishalohydrin ether with an aqueous inorganic hydroxide mixture to yield a liquid epoxy resin.

  • Publication number: 20110130537
Abstract: In an improved process for preparation of glycidyl ether resins that are solid at room temperature, sometimes referred to as solid epoxy resins”, from a reaction mixture of an aromatic hydroxyl-containing compound, an epihalohydrin and an inorganic hydroxide, add a reaction solvent that has both a ether moiety ad an alcohol moiety to the reaction mixture and use mole-equivalent ratio of moles (one mole-equivalent) epihalohydrin to hydroxyl moieties of the aromatic hydroxyl-containing compound that falls within a range of from 0.5:1 to 1:1.

  • Publication number: 20110098417
Abstract: The present invention is to the preparation and application of isocyanate based polymers, particularly polyurethane and polyurea elastomeric polymers. By incorporating polybutadiene with a polyether polyol in a polyurethane system, the produced elastomer have improved chemical resistance as compared to conventional polyurethane elastomers. For polyurea elastomer, the incorporation of high functional polyols or crosslinkers with polybutadiene gives elastomer with improved chemical resistance as compared to conventional polyurea elastomers.
