  • Publication number: 20230105420
Abstract: A computer readable barcode on a surface of a corrodible material, and method of forming. A surface depression of an inverse bar code pattern is etched or engraved within the surface and around the code elements. A corrosion-resistant material is cured within the surface depression formed by the engraving. The corrosion-resistant material is lightly colored to frame the formed barcode lines.

  • Publication number: 20220248815
Abstract: A stackable form of a numismatic that includes a visible, centrally embedded magnet for the purpose of reducing plastic waste by providing storage modalities for such that preclude the need for plastic sleeve holders. The stackable magnetic numismatic may also include embossed and debossed formations, decorations, and/or script. Such stackable magnetic numismatics may be displayed within a balanced magnetic field of a decorative device.

  • Patent number: 11028942
Abstract: A fluid control valve includes first and second valves. The first valve is adjustable under the control of a first valve actuator between a closed position in which flow of fluid through the first valve is prevented and an open position in which flow of fluid through the first valve is permitted. The second valve comprises a second valve actuator adapted such that the first valve actuator bears against the second valve actuator in each of said first and second positions to urge the second valve into an open configuration allowing flow of fluid. The first valve actuator is adjustable to a third position in which the first valve actuator is spaced from the second valve actuator by a separation sufficient to allow fluid pressure at the inlet to cause the second valve to close, preventing flow of fluid through the fluid control valve.

  • Patent number: 10831940
Abstract: A method and software-implemented system that provides a situational awareness tool for infrastructure operators and government agencies to assess vulnerabilities, and optimize the deployment of prevention and mitigation technologies. The invention automatically obtains current supply information from each of more than one participating utility provider. The supply information from the different sources is standardized and combined with geographic information to provide a building level map of utility service and outages. The service locations, e.g., residential and commercial buildings, are represented as building polygons corresponding to building footprint, and can be color-coded to indicate service status.

  • Publication number: 20200158516
Abstract: An approach is provided for determining map matching quality using binary classification. The approach, for example, involves processing probe trajectory data using a map matcher to generate a map-matched output. The approach also involves comparing the map-matched output for a probe point of the probe trajectory data against ground truth map-matched data for the probe trajectory data to classify the probe point according to one or more binary classifications. The one or more binary classifications indicate a correctness or an incorrectness of matching with respect to the ground truth map-matched data. The approach further involves computing the map matching quality of the map matcher based on the one or more binary classifications.

  • Publication number: 20190287398
Abstract: In one embodiment, dynamic natural guidance is generated for a route between an origin and a destination. A controller receives data indicative of a location of the mobile device and data indicative of at least one movable object detected in a vicinity of the mobile device. The data indicative of at least one movable object may be collected by a camera and analyzed. The analysis may include one or more of image processing techniques, temporal measurement, and tracking of movable objects. The controller generates a guidance command based on the location of the mobile device. The guidance command references the at least one movable object detected in the vicinity of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20180372242
Abstract: The present invention relates to fluid control and management. In particular, it relates to valves or regulators for controlling a flow of fluid, such as, but not limited to, taps and faucets. We will describe a fluid control valve comprising a valve body having an inlet, for operative connection to a supply of pressurised fluid, and an outlet and defining a fluid flow path therebetween. A first valve is adjustable under the control of a first valve actuator between a first, or closed, position in which flow of fluid through the first valve is prevented and a second, or open, position in which flow of fluid through the first valve is permitted.

  • Patent number: 9858717
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and method for creating multi-angle views of an object-of-interest from images stored in a dataset. A user specifies the location of an object-of-interest. As the user virtually navigates through the locality represented by the image dataset, his current virtual position is determined. Using the user's virtual position and the location of the object-of-interest, images in the image dataset are selected and interpolated or stitched together, if necessary, to present to the user a view from his current virtual position looking toward the object-of-interest. The object-of-interest remains in the view no matter where the user virtually travels. From the same image dataset, another user can select a different object-of-interest and virtually navigate in a similar manner, with his own object-of-interest always in view. The object-of-interest also can be “virtual,” added by computer-animation techniques to the image dataset.

  • Patent number: 9500486
Abstract: An approach is provided for formulating a positioning extent for map matching. The positioning extent platform processes and/or facilitates a processing of a plurality of position data points acquired by at least one positioning system to determine one or more variations in the plurality of position data points with respect to one or more thoroughfare segments. Next, the positioning extent platform determines one or more positioning extents associated with the one or more thoroughfare segments for the at least one positioning system based, at least in part, on the one or more variations.

  • Patent number: 9240029
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for displaying video on a computing device for navigation and other purposes. Video data is collected by traveling along roads in a geographic area and storing the video data along with data indicating the positions at which the video data had been captured. This captured video data is then used in navigation systems and other devices that provide navigation, routing, or other features. A video is presented to a user on the display of a navigation system (or other device). An application associated with the navigation system uses the previously captured video data to create the video shown to the user. The application selects that video data that shows the end user's position from a vantage point. The application further superimposes an indication on the video at a location that corresponds to the position of the end user.

  • Patent number: 9183222
Abstract: A method for creating GIS features and populating a GIS feature attribute with information obtained from a bar code or similar identifier, for example but not limited to pipelines. The method of this invention includes scanning a code on a component to be installed or repaired, converting the code into attributes which describe the component, obtaining additional characteristics of the components, associating the component with a location of installation and placing the geometric feature onto the GIS map.
