Abstract: A setting to be applied at a docking station is obtained, either from a memory of the docking station, or from another device connected to a network by first obtaining, from a user device connected to the docking station, an identity of the user device and/or an identity of a user of the user device. Based on the identity of the user and/or the user device, a configuration set, of a plurality of configuration sets, that identifies at least one setting to be applied at the docking station is obtained and a setting to apply at the docking station is determined based at least partly on the configuration set. The docking station may store a set of docking station specific settings which can be used in conjunction with the setting(s) determined from the configuration set.

Abstract: A docking station configured to enable a host device to access resources provided by or connected to the docking station is disclosed. The resources include one or more peripheral devices, interfaces and/or network connections. The docking station is configured to receive setting information including at least one configuration setting for configuration of interaction between the host device and one or more of the resources. The docking station is also configured to transmit the setting information to the host device for use in configuring the host device to interact with one or more of the resources, when the host device communicatively couples to the docking station.

Abstract: A number of computing devices are controlled from a touchscreen display system using a Touch Intermediator Machine (TIM) receiving information indicating the location of one or more touches on a connected touchscreen panel. The TIM determines whether the pattern of touches received matches one of a pre-programmed set of interface manipulation gestures. If so, the TIM alters the user interface presented on the connected touchscreen display system depending on the gesture detected. If not, the TIM determines the connected computing device associated with the location of the touch received and updated coordinates of the touch received within an area on the touchscreen display system associated with the connected computing device. The TIM transmits information to the relevant connected computing device regarding the touch received. The computing device processes the information to determine the pattern of touches received and responds according to predetermined instructions for user interaction.
