  • Patent number: 5666487
Abstract: A distribution network has an architecture that distributes data of any format over a wide serving area. An access subnetwork receives broadband data from a plurality of information providers, preferably at least some of which are received as compressed, digital signals using asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) transport. The access subnetwork combines the broadband data from different information providers, identifies the format of the data and outputs a consolidated MPEG encoded signal to a network interface module of an end user. The network interface module receives the consolidated MPEG encoded signal and converts the consolidated MPEG encoded signal into data packets in accordance with PID values identifying the format of the data. The network interface module performs MPEG and other processing on received packet data streams, and outputs information to a corresponding digital entertainment on the basis of corresponding PID values, resulting in efficient transport of data of any format.

  • Patent number: 5594779
Abstract: A mobile audio program selection system includes a radio frequency based information distribution system having mobile users. The distribution system includes a mobile switching office selectively connecting the mobile users of the information distribution system, and information service providers, operatively connected to the mobile switching office, at least one of the information service providers receiving user selection signal inputs received by the mobile switching office from a mobile user, and transmitting user selected information to the mobile switching office responsive to the user selection signal inputs. In addition, the distribution system includes at least one mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a receiver, operatively coupling the mobile terminal to the mobile switching office, and receiving the user selected information from the at least one of the information service providers via the mobile switching office.

  • Patent number: 5036809
Abstract: A circular rotary engine comprises a housing having spaced concentric cylindrical walls defining an annulus therebetween with intake and exhaust ports through the sides of the walls and a cylindrical rotary piston ring having multiple symmetrically undulating surfaces on both ends and coaxial interior and exterior gears for shaft drive which rotates within the annulus while reciprocating between end ring members positioned within the annulus and secured at each end of the interior and exterior walls.

  • Patent number: 4702920
Abstract: A potter's table including a rotating pneumatic clay extruder coupled to the potter's wheel. Clay is fed from a vented storage cylinder in centered relation to the wheel past an interchangeable template via a hand valve controlled pneumatic piston and rotatable ram head coaxially mounted within the storage cylinder. An electric foot-operated, proportional speed belt drive, belt tensioning assembly and upper and lower bearing assemblies support the cylinder and potter's wheel in rotative relation to the table and pneumatic piston.

  • Patent number: 4643787
Abstract: An embossed plastic panel door including a pair of plastic panel faces, preferably made of polyvinyl chloride, at least one of the plastic panel faces having a preselected design embossed thereon, and a relatively rigid polystyrene core having the same preselected design burned onto its facing surface. The embossed design is stretch embossed on each of the plastic panels and is burned into the core with a heated die. The core is then covered with heated adhesive and the plastic facing panels are placed on the opposing major surfaces of the core with the designs on the panels in alignment with the burned-in designs on the core and the panels and core are pressed together to form the completed door. A wooden perimeter frame may be placed around the core prior to securing the plastic panel faces thereon in order to provide a thermal brake and increase the structural definition.
