The earpiece comprises a temperature sensor, which is arranged to measure a temperature in the ear canal of the wearer. Via known technology, the temperature can be then used to calculate, determine, or approximate body core temperature of the wearer. The earpiece comprises a microphone and a speaker, which provide for audible communication between the wearer and another.

  • Publication number: 20070101477
Abstract: A protective garment having an outer shell, when worn without an inner liner, conforms to and displays, on the outer shell, an indicium or indicia that the protective garment conforms to at least one standard for protective garments, such as NFPA 1999 (03), NFPA 1951 (01), or both. When worn within the protective garment, the inner liner causes the protective garment to conform to and displays an indicium or indicia that the protective garment conforms to at least one standard, which is a different standard, for protective garments, such as NFPA 1971 (00). When the inner liner is worn within the outer shell, a tag displaying the indicium or indicia displayed on the inner liner is manipulatable and is attachable detachably to the outer shell, via coactive elements, such as coactive elements of a hook-and-loop fastener, so as to mask the indicium or indicia displayed by the outer shell but so as to display the indicium or indicia displayed by the inner liner.

  • Publication number: 20070084667
Abstract: A drag harness comprises an elongate, flexible member, which is connected end-to-end so as to define a large loop, and a drag grip, which is provided with a pair of tunnels. Through each of the tunnels, the elongate, flexible member passes so as to divide the large loop into two arm loops having the drag grip between the arm loops. The elongate, flexible member passes loosely therethrough, whereby relative sizes of the arm loops are variable.

  • Publication number: 20070012513
Abstract: A drag harness comprises two arm loops, each of which has a fixed length and is adapted to receive a separate arm of a wearer, and a gripping loop having a fixed length, joined to the arm loops. Rather than one gripping loop, a pair of gripping loops, each having a fixed length, can be advantageously used. The arm loops are made from a non-abrading material, which may be rope, such as cotton rope or polyester rope. Alternatively, the non-abrading material may be a material, such as strapping, webbing, or rope, which has a surface finish providing the material with a non-abrading characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20060277650
Abstract: For a firefighter or for an emergency rescue worker, a protective garment comprises an arm-covering or leg-covering sleeve, which comprises an outer shell, a lining system within the outer shell, a wristlet or an anklet, which is attached non-detachably to the lining system, and a cuff-forming member, which is attached non-detachably to the lining system, which extends beyond the lining system, and which is attached detachably, as via a hook-and-loop fastening device, to an outer or inner surface of the outer shell. The cuff-forming member can be thus attached at any location within a range of possible locations along the garment sleeve. The cuff-forming member, if visible at the cuff end of the outer shell, provides a visible indication that the lining system is present.

  • Publication number: 20060195963
Abstract: Being reversible, a protective garment for a military or paramilitary firefighter or emergency worker has a shell of high visibility and a shell of low visibility. The shell of high visibility has portions that are reflective, fluorescent, or both, which the shell of low visibility does not have. When facing outwardly, the shell of low visibility appears black, or at least dark, in ambient light or displays camouflage. Except that the shell of low visibility does not have any reflective or fluorescent portions, the shells conform to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards for outer shells of protective garments for firefighters. The shells are equal, or at least similar, in basis weights.

  • Publication number: 20060156452
Abstract: In a protective glove for a firefighter, an emergency rescue worker, or another worker in a high-heat area, a leather face has a peripheral edge, a leather back has a peripheral edge, a leather forchette has a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather face and a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather back, and a heat-resistant cover made from an aramid or polybenzamidazole fabric has a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather back. The heat-resistant cover covers the leather back so as to protect the leather back against direct exposure to high heat that would tend to shrink the leather back if the leather back were not protected by the heat-resistant cover.
