  • Patent number: 8331737
Abstract: The present invention relates to machine vision computing environments, and more specifically relates to a system and method for selectively accelerating the execution of image processing applications using a multi-core processor system. To this extent, a multi-core processor system is generally defined as one that is multi-platform, and potentially distributed via a network or other connection. The invention provides a machine vision system and method for executing image processing applications referred to herein as an image co-processor that comprises (among other things) a plurality of multi-core processors (MCPs) that work to process multiple images in an accelerated fashion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 2007
Date of Patent: December 11, 2012
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: William H. Chung, Moon J. Kim, James R. Moulic, Toshiyuki Sanuki
  • Patent number: 8326092
Abstract: The present invention relates to machine vision computing environments, and more specifically relates to a system and method for selectively accelerating the execution of image processing applications using a hybrid computing system. To this extent, a hybrid system is generally defined as one that is multi-platform, and potentially distributed via a network or other connection. The invention provides a machine vision system and method for executing image processing applications on a hybrid image processing system referred to herein as an image co-processor that comprises (among other things) a plurality of special purpose engines (SPEs) that work to process multiple images in an accelerated fashion.

  • Publication number: 20080168142
Abstract: A method for the intelligent verification of recipient electronic message addresses with active alerts for incorrect and ambiguous recipient electronic message addresses provided to a sender prior to the dissemination of an electronic message, wherein the method includes adding the recipient electronic message addresses by the sender to the electronic message; initiating the disbursement of the electronic message by the sender; determining incorrect and ambiguous recipient electronic message addresses by searching the records of previous electronic communications involving the sender, and matching the recipient electronic message addresses added by the sender to addresses found in the records; notifying the sender based on the determination of matching recipient electronic message addresses, and establishing a subset thereof; recommending to the sender which recipient electronic message address to use from the subset; and disbursing the electronic message with the recommended recipient electronic message addr

  • Patent number: 5218697
Abstract: An improved, distributed network comprising a central server and at least one foreign server, which provides a method and means for integrating multiple networks with varying file systems is provided. The present invention allows foreign servers to coexist on a single integrated file server while eliminating server-to-server translations, thus improving the performance of the network. In a preferred embodiment, the central server communicates with central server clients in accordance with a central server network protocol, and converts central server network file service requests from the central server clients into central server file system commands. Foreign servers communicate with foreign server clients in accordance with a foreign server network protocol and convert foreign server network file service requests from foreign server clients into central server file system commands.
