  • Patent number: 5623792
Abstract: A grave marker and grave marker footing leveling device is described, in which an elongated threaded rod is provided with a tool engagement head at a top end. A footing lifting abutment is located on the rod spaced toward the bottom rod end. A nut is threadably engaged with the threads and is spaced toward the bottom end of the rod from the abutment. A tubular spike rotatably receives and covers an axial length of the rod from the nut to the bottom end of the rod. In a preferred process step, the rod is placed in position within an excavation including a footing depression and a sub-footing depression. Wet concrete fills the sub-footing depression up to a level at which the nut on the device is captured. An impervious sheet is spread over the wet concrete in the sub-footing, before the grave marker and footing are set. In alternate forms the device is provided individually, as an element in a combination with a grave marker and footing.

  • Patent number: 4160394
Abstract: A wrench adapted to turn a rotatable workpiece or tool about its central axis. The wrench comprises an elongated handle received through a bracket having an inwardly facing surface that engages the workpiece or tool. A pivotal connection between the inner end of the handle and the bracket permits adjustment of the handle about a pivot axis perpendicular to the longitudinal handle axis. A flexible loop is provided as a work-engaging member. It has one end connected to the inner end of the handle at one side of the pivot axis and its remaining end connected to the inner end of the handle at the opposite side of the pivot axis. Adjustment means is provided by manipulation of a sleeve surrounding a rigid inner handle section or shaft, the sleeve being both rotatable and axially movable with respect to the inner shaft. Radial cam surfaces are formed on the inner end of the sleeve and the outer end of the bracket to vary the angular position of the handle with respect to the bracket about the transverse pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 4144844
Abstract: A grazing regulator is mountable to the head of a grazing animal to automatically prevent the animal from eating short grass, while allowing the animal to graze on taller grass. The regulator includes a rigid frame that is mounted on the animal's head where it pivotably mounts a pair of rocker arms. A grazing plate is fixed to the lower ends of the rocker arms and is pivotable in unison with the arms between an operative position where the plate substantially overlaps the animal's mouth to prevent eating, and an inoperative position wherein the plate is pivoted clear of the animal's mouth. Movement of the plate between these positions is effected by an actuator rod slidably mounted to the framework. A lower end of the actuator rod protrudes below the grazing plate to engage the ground and slide upwardly as the animal moves its head toward the ground surface. The upper end of the rod is connected to an upper end of the rocker arm. It causes pivotal movement of the rocker arm and grazing plate.

  • Patent number: 3956787
Abstract: A tool for reconditioning threads on vehicle lug studs. The tool is comprised of a hollow tube slidably receiving a collet chuck. The chuck is operatively connected to a handle that is in turn pivotably mounted to the tube. Pivotal movement of the handle causes responsive movement of the collet chuck between an extended and a retracted position within the tube. The chuck includes internal gripping surfaces having thread cutting serrations thereon. In the extended position, these serrations are separated from one another to enable loose positioning of the collet chuck over a lug stud. The handle is then pivoted to cause corresponding movement of the chuck to the retracted position. As the chuck is retracted into the tube, the gripping surfaces grip the shank between the thread cutting serrations. The tool may then be turned about the axis of the stud to renew or recondition the threads thereon.
