  • Publication number: 20230119365
Abstract: A short-range communication system. The short-range communication system includes a plurality of wearable units, each of which include a hub having a speaker therein. Each wearable unit has a primary clip extending from the hub for selective attachment to a wearer's ear such that the speaker is directed to an ear canal of the wearer. Each wearable includes has a secondary clip extending outwardly from the hub such that an exterior side of the hub is between the secondary clip and the speaker, an antenna in the secondary clip, a reflector between the secondary clip and the speaker, and a microphone. Each wearable unit is in either a transmit state or a listener state, with a maximum of one said wearable unit being in the transmit state at any point in time. A stationary repeater having a processor and circuitry manipulates original RF signals transmitted by a transmitting wearable unit.

  • Patent number: 11540040
Abstract: A two-way radio system includes multiple units each having a hub, speaker, primary clip, secondary clip, antenna, and microphone. The hub has exterior and interior sides defining a hub cavity therebetween. The speaker is in the hub cavity and has an output directed to a speaker opening on the hub interior side. The primary clip extends from the hub for selective attachment to a wearer's ear such that the speaker opening is directed to the wearer's ear canal. The secondary clip extends outwardly from the hub exterior side such that the hub exterior side is between the secondary clip and the hub interior side. The secondary clip has an antenna support on an interior side of the secondary clip and an antenna cap on an exterior side of the secondary clip. The antenna support and the antenna cap define an antenna cavity, and the antenna is in the antenna cavity.

  • Publication number: 20110206097
Abstract: A communications device can include a radiator structure and a transceiver circuit. The radiator structure can include a primary radiator line and a secondary radiator line. The primary radiator line extends from a RF feed node to a distal end and is configured to resonant in at least one RF frequency range. The secondary radiator line extends from the RF feed node to a distal end that is closely spaced to the primary radiator line to provide capacitive excitation at a location along the primary radiator line where at least 70% of a maximum resonant voltage is present in the primary radiator line while resonating. The transceiver circuit is configured to encode data according to one or more communication protocols and to generate a RF signal that is supplied to the RF feed node to cause the radiator structure to radiate the encoded data as RF electromagnetic radiation through a wireless air interface.

  • Patent number: 6486837
Abstract: An antenna structure and assembly are provided, along with a method of fabricating the same. The antenna structure is formed by molding a plateable plastic antenna element in the desired shape of the antenna structure. The molded antenna element is plated substantially entirely thereabout with a conductive metal material. The antenna assembly includes the molded and plated antenna structure attached to a dielectric base structure adapted for mounting on an appropriate support such as a printed circuit board. A contact spring clip is interengaged between the antenna structure and the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5943027
Abstract: A telescopic antenna assembly provides pairs of arms (210, 220, 230 and 240) on an elongated dielectric tube (260). A hot conductor (273) and a ground conductor (275) of a group of exciters couple energy between the arms and a feed line (250). The hot and ground conductors (273) and (275) slide within the tube (260) between extended and retracted positions while maintaining efficient electromagnetic coupling to the arms.

  • Patent number: 5606332
Abstract: A dual function antenna structure transceives in first and second modes. A first feed (120) feeds a primary antenna element (110) for operation in the first mode. A second feed (240) connects to the first feed (120). An upper choke (150) and a metal layer (160) are tuned to a wavelength of the radio frequency energy to be transceived in the second mode. The primary antenna element (110) and the metal layer (160) thus realize a secondary antenna element for operation in the second mode. In a portable radio, dual function operation is thus possible by a compact structure by the first and second feeds (120, 140).
