Abstract: An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes a plurality of user interface objects, and a current focus on a first user interface object. While the display is presenting the user interface, the electronic device receives an input that corresponds to a movement of a contact across on a touch-sensitive surface. The electronic device, in response to receiving the input and in accordance with a determination that a first axis is a dominant axis, moves the current focus along the first axis by a first amount and along the second axis by a second amount. The amount of movement of the current focus along the second axis is reduced to a first non-zero amount by a scaling factor that is based on one or more inputs received prior to receiving the input.

Abstract: An optical interference coating on a refractory substrate, the coating being comprised of alternating layers of silicon dioxide and zirconium dioxide. The coating can be in the form of an optical filter where a substrate bearing the coating can be repeatedly cycled between room temperature and a temperature of at least 1000° C. without significant degradation of its optical or mechanical properties.

Abstract: An ultraviolet and infrared reflecting coating with a wide transmission band and a solar cell cover on which the coating has been deposited. The coating contains a multilayer bandpass filter, and some of the layers of this filter are comprised of mixed materials which have a selectable index of refraction. The design can be optimized by varying the index or refraction of at least one of the layers of mixed material.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for retrieving lines, ropes, wires, optical fibres and the like from otherwise inaccessable locations, without the need for separate control lines, dissolving tables and the like. The apparatus comprises a line guide assembly, line clamping assembly, a line cutting assembly and a triggering mechanism for the activation of the aforementioned assemblies. The triggering mechanism is activated by the application of force to the line to be retrieved.
