  • Patent number: 5199237
Abstract: A decorative receptacle covering and providing the appearance of a finished joint between the adjacent rough cut ends of two lineal moldings. The receptacle slidably receives the ends of the lineal moldings, covers the ends and allows cutting the moldings to a rough length and rough end cut, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for precision carpentry skills by one installing the moldings. Receptacles can be made for a wide variety of decorative moldings including casing moldings, base moldings, chair rail moldings, and crown moldings.

  • Patent number: 4871588
Abstract: A method of coating embossed panels having embossed panel portions which are offset in generally parallel planes. A liquid accent coating is applied to the panels as they are moved along a predetermined path. A roll is reverse rotated to wipe liquid coating from the high points of the embossed panel surfaces, creating a high level of contrast with the relief portions where a greater amount of coating remains. The rolls do not wipe the steps between panel portions so that the steps are more heavily coated, to create a dark shadow line. Doctor blades strip coating from the roll, except in those portions that do not contact the panel steps. Vacuum removes excess coating from the stepped areas of the panels and also from those portions of the rolls not contacted by the doctor blades. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3992845
Abstract: This invention relates to wall siding assemblies, particularly to horizontal siding panels and to improved clip means for connecting same to the sides of a building structure. Each siding panel has two elongated recesses or grooves on its backface near the bottom edge of the panel, one recess being nearer the bottom end than the other, with a resilient clip having opposite end portions located in the respective recesses such that the clip is retained in engagement with the panel. The clip has a support leg extending therefrom. Each successive panel is assembled on top of a lower panel already secured to the wall, by positioning the support leg of the clip in engagement with the upper edge of the lower panel, with the lower portion of the upper panel overlapping the upper edge of the lower panel. The upper edge of the newly installed panel is then secured to the wall, for example, by nailing. The clips are easily assembled with the panels, and installation is a very simple matter.
