  • Patent number: 4534035
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus by which two series-connected glow discharge devices may be connected to a main power supply without interposing an output switch. The two series-connected glow discharge devices may be used within a single laser or in two different lasers which are pumped simultaneously. Both glow discharges may be initiated by a balanced main power supply, a single ended main power supply or a prepulse power supply in conjunction with a main power supply.

  • Patent number: 4309617
Abstract: An apparatus for providing controlled flashes of radiation, including a handpiece within which is mounted a gaseous discharge tube and a light pipe for conducting the radiation, enabling it to be directed into an oral cavity to effect in situ curing of radiation polymerizable resins used as dental restoratives. The apparatus further includes electrical circuitry for producing a train of a fixed number of relatively constant intensity flashes each time a switch is closed, and for disabling the apparatus after the flash tube has been discharged a predetermined number of times, thereby preventing unsatisfactory performance resulting from a fall-off in intensity due to aging of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4093948
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the processing of return signal data in a single channel, medium pulse repetition frequency, pulse doppler radar receiver in which discrete sidelobe return signals are prevented from being recognized as true targets. The return signal data is processed by a clutter cancellation circuit, which in the preferred embodiment is a doppler filter bank, to remove main beam clutter and a constant false alarm rate threshold circuit to remove area sidelobe clutter return signals. The return signal data is temporarily stored as data blocks which are representative of the return data in the interpulse period of each pulse repetition frequency. The data blocks are unfolded over a predetermined range and two parallel correlations are simultaneously performed over the predetermined range to identify discrete sidelobe clutter return signals.

  • Patent number: 4023888
Abstract: A reflecting device providing a flashing reflection of light incident on the device toward an intended observer includes a converging Fresnel lens for receiving light directed onto the device and for focusing the light within the focal plane of the lens, through which plane a reflector is periodically moved to intermittently reflect the light. In one embodiment, the reflector is positioned to retroreflect the light back through the lens toward an observer positioned adjacent the source of light. In another embodiment, the reflector is positioned to reflect light transmitted through a first Fresnel lens toward another Fresnel lens so as to be visible by an observer of the other lens.
