  • Publication number: 20230390092
Abstract: Certain configurations of removable oral devices are described. In some instances, the removable oral device includes a palatal element. In certain configurations, the palatal element may comprise a variable hardness at different areas, e.g., edges can be softer than other areas of the removable oral device. In other instances, the removable oral device may comprise two or more individual palatal elements which together can form the palatal element and permit user adjustment of the oral volume. Various materials used in the palatal element are described. Sensors and other on-board devices are also described.

  • Publication number: 20070283973
Abstract: An oral appliance constructed with a housing that encloses a recorder and a transceiver. The oral appliance responds to commands received via the transceiver. When so directed, the oral appliance uses one or more sensors alone or in combination to record measurements at periodic intervals. When communicatively coupled to a suitably configured communication device, the oral appliance receives commands that direct the oral appliance to transmit an identifier, the recorded data, or both the identifier and the data. The transmitted data can be used to determine whether the user of the oral appliance has complied with a recommended usage schedule.

  • Publication number: 20070282226
Abstract: An apparatus constructed with a housing that encloses an array of sensors, a memory and a transceiver is attached in an oral cavity. The apparatus responds to commands received via the transceiver. When so directed, the apparatus uses one or more sensors alone or in combination to record measurements responsive to the presence of a select substance or substances in a host's oral cavity. When communicatively coupled to a suitably configured communication device, the apparatus receives commands that direct the apparatus to transmit the recorded data, or both an identifier and the data. The transmitted data can be used to determine whether the user of the apparatus has complied with a recommended consumption behavior, has good oral hygiene, is suffering from a disease, etc.

  • Publication number: 20070277836
Abstract: An information system determines compliant or non-compliant use of an oral appliance over time. The system includes a communication device and a data analyzer. The communication device forwards commands to, and receives information from, an oral appliance. The oral appliance records at least one measure indicative of presence of the oral appliance in an oral cavity. The communication device communicates with the oral appliance when the two are within operational range of each other. The communication device forwards information to the data analyzer. In turn, the data analyzer determines whether a user's use of the oral appliance is compliant with a schedule. The data analyzer generates one or more reports that can be accessed, communicated and reviewed by those with appropriate authorization credentials.
