  • Patent number: 6518313
Abstract: Solid sanitizing compositions have advantages over corresponding liquids and powders. A solid sanitizing product can be contained within a plastic bottle with a label indicating that the contents have antimicrobial or deodorizing properties containing a non-flowable solid composition having greater than about 0.02 percent by weight antimicrobial compounds. The preferred solid sanitizing compositions consist essentially of an antimicrobial compound selected from the group consisting of quaternary ammonium salts, fatty amines and diamines, chlorhexidine gluconate, phenol, derivatives of phenol, parachloro metaxylenol and mixtures thereof, and between 0 and 99.98 percent by weight of a cleaning composition. The solid sanitizing compositions can be effectively used with solid dispensers. The solid dispensers have a bowl with a drain at the bottom and an upward pointing spray nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6110886
Abstract: The invention is based on the discovery of the fabric softening ability of fatty amines and dimethyl fatty amine oxides for washer based applications. These amine softeners are combined with other ingredients to form the softening compositions. The softeners will contain a second compound selected from the group consisting of acidic compositions, nonionic surfactants and anionic surfactants, and other ingredients can be added to enhance the character of the fabric softener. Solid cast fabric softeners within the invention include compositions having between 5 and 95 percent by weight citric acid. Citric acid has adventageous properties. These solid citric acid containing fabric softeners will include a cationic surfactant such as a quarternary ammonium salt. Other solid cast fabric softener compositions in the invention have a reducing agent for reducing any remaining hypochlorite bleach. This reducing agent is combined with a fabric softening compound in the composition.

  • Patent number: 5670473
Abstract: A method for forming solid cleaning agents starts with hydrated forms of salts that generally have considerably lower melting points in their hydrated forms. The hydrated salt cleaning agents are heated to form a melted cleaning suspension. Additional ingredients can be mixed into the melted cleaning suspension. These additional ingredients can be selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, alkaline builders, multivalent metal sequestering agents, active enzymes, soil suspending agents, defoamers, oxygenated solvents, fragrances, optical brighteners and colorants. An alternative method involves the formation of a mixture of powder or granular cleaning composition components. These components include at least 15 percent by weight of a moderate melting point cleaning additive. A receptacle with the cleaning components is heated to a temperature above the melting point of the moderate melting point cleaning additive.

  • Patent number: 5342587
Abstract: A detergent dispenser that is utilized with solid cast detergent. A single valve is utilized to initiate a flow of a ready to use detergent solution that may be drawn off in container. The valve commences a flow of water that is split in a T-shaped fitting. An appropriate portion is routed to spray on the solid cast detergent and to dissolve the detergent into a concentrated solution. The concentrated solution flows into a conduit where it is mixed with the second portion of the water, diluting the solution to an appropriate concentration for use. A restricter located in the T-shaped fitting acts to split the flow of water appropriately to ensure that the discharge solution is in a ready to use concentration.
