  • Patent number: 6030004
Abstract: A double shouldered high torque resistance threaded connection for drill stem components having enhanced resistance to torque forces, tensile loads and material stress and fatigue is disclosed. The tool joint is provided with threads having a 75.degree. included angle between the thread flanks thereof and with generally elliptical root surfaces to minimize material stress and fatigue during operation under high torque and high tensile loads. When made up, the double intrerengaging shoulders of the threaded tool joint are in firm face to face engagement permitting torque forces and tensile loads to propagate through the tool joint in a manner that minimizes bending forces and minimizes high stress concentration so that the resulting service life of the tool joint is significantly enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5535822
Abstract: The retrieving tool includes a first mandrel having an upper end adapted for attachment to a running string, and a lower end. A second mandrel is positioned below the lower end of the first mandrel. The second mandrel and first mandrel are interconnected by a cam/grip link mechanism. An external actuator cylinder extends over the upper mandrel into attachment to the lower mandrel such that the cam grip mechanism is moved into engagement with the upper end of a whipstock by movement of the upper mandrel away from the lower mandrel and the cam grip mechanism is released by movement of the lower mandrel through its connection to the external actuator toward the upper mandrel.

  • Patent number: 5381868
Abstract: The roller reamer drilling tool includes an elongated body having a fluid circulation bore. A plurality of roller reamer units are mounted circumferentially about the body and are capable of being installed as units within a series of pockets machined within the body. The pockets include a central pocket to receive the roller reamer, a lower bearing block pocket and an upper bearing block pocket which has a width greater than the width of the roller so that the roller can be installed through the upper bearing block pocket, which allows the installation of the roller, shaft and upper bearing block as a unit.

  • Patent number: 5361833
Abstract: A whipstock assembly includes a whipstock and a non-retrievable setting tool. The non-retrievable setting tool includes a terminal body which is adapted to engage a bottom obstruction. The terminal body mounts a plurality of wedge members for movement radially outwardly as the wedge members are moved downwardly by an internally mounted piston member. The piston member is moved downwardly by an actuating cylinder which is attached to the whipstock. A spring member is positioned between the actuating cylinder and the piston to provide more uniform engagement between the actuating cylinder and the piston as the actuating cylinder and piston move downwardly thus moving the wedge members radially outwardly into engagement with the casing.
