Patent number: 8436246Abstract: An isolator to electrically isolate the A/C and D/C ground planes in a refrigerant network. When positioned along conductive refrigerant lines flowing with a dielectric refrigerant, the isolator is formed of a material which will prevent refrigerant permeation through its walls, and is further designed with dimensions that will prevent material breakdown and potentially damaging arcing due to triboelectric effect.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2012Date of Patent: May 7, 2013Assignee: Calvary Applied Technologies, LLCInventors: William H. Publication number: 20120090808Abstract: A cooling system includes an electronic enclosure and a liquid-cooled heat exchanger configured to receive heated air from within the enclosure. A geothermal loop is connected to the heat exchanger to form a closed-loop path. The closed-loop path is suitable for circulating a pressurized liquid refrigerant between the geothermal loop and the heat exchanger to transfer heat from the heated air to the geothermal loop without the refrigerant undergoing a phase change.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2010Publication date: April 19, 2012Applicant: Alcatel-Lucent USA, IncorporatedInventor: William H. Publication number: 20110247780Abstract: A cooling system includes a heat exchanger, a refrigerant reservoir and a pump. The pump is connected to the heat exchanger by a first line. A second line connects the heat exchanger to the reservoir. A third line connects the reservoir to the pump. The third line has an opening within the reservoir that is below an opening of the second line within the reservoir. The first, second and third lines are capable of carrying a refrigerant.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2010Publication date: October 13, 2011Applicant: Alcatel-Lucent USA, IncorporatedInventor: William H. Publication number: 20100328885Abstract: A rotatable cooling module includes a cooling coil. An input line is coupled to the cooling coil via a coupler that allows the cooling coil to rotate independent of the input line. An output line is coupled to the cooling coil via a second coupler that allows the cooling coil to rotate independent of the output line. A coolant flows through the input line and the first coupler and passes through the cooling coil, which removes heat from an electronic assembly to which the cooling unit is attached. The coolant then flows through the second coupler and through the output line and returns to a heat exchanger, which cools the liquid before recirculating through the cooling unit. The couplers are disposed about a single axis which allows the cooling module to be rotated, and the couplers prevent damage from occurring to any of the elements of the cooling module.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2009Publication date: December 30, 2010Inventors: William H. Scofield, Lisa M. Valcich, Richard A. Garafola, Salvatore J. Messana, Paul M. Rominski, Peter J. Hayden, Craig E. Schilder, Nicholas J. Guerra, Lynn V. Abbott, Robert M. Wentzel, Luis M. Diaz

Patent number: 6734801Abstract: An alarming apparatus and methods for use with an air filter are disclosed herein. A filament can be stretched across a portion or section of an air filter frame, wherein the portion or section comprises a first locus and a second locus located diagonally opposite the first locus. The filament can be attached at a first end of the filament to the air filter frame at the first locus. A micro-switch can be attached to a second end of the filament at the second locus. Additionally, an alarm can communicate through a communications device (wired and/or wireless) with the micro-switch, such that when the air filter becomes loaded with debris, the air filter deflects thereby causing a force to be exerted on the filament, which in turn triggers the micro-switch to transmit a signal to the alarm indicating that the air filter requires proper attention thereof. The filament can be stretched facing either an upstream or a downstream side of airflow thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2002Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventor: William H.
