  • Patent number: 6199470
Abstract: An apparatus for launching projectiles from a host aircraft is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a rotary launcher, a plurality of launch tube assemblies, a plurality of projectile retention means, and a plurality of ejection cartridges. The rotary launcher has a plurality of support fittings thereon, each for securing a tube assembly to the rotary launcher. Each projectile retention means securely retains each projectile within its respective launch tube. Each ejection cartridge is mounted to a respective launch tube assembly and interfaces with a projectile retention means to provide an ejection of that projectile retention means.

  • Patent number: 4543873
Abstract: A system and method which allows for the change of pitch angle of a store as required during the mission of an aircraft to minimize the frontal area of the store. By minimizing the drag of the store during the flight, the range of the weapon delivery system can be extended and aircraft handling qualities can be enhanced. The system includes sensing, processing, and positioning means that cooperate to adjust the store position relative to the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4399968
Abstract: An actuator for ejecting a store from an aircraft, with a pre-selected force vs stroke profile, is disclosed. The actuator comprises a cylinder and a fixed tubular member coupled to a source of fluid under pressure having a first array of orifices for flowing fluid into the cylinder. A piston assembly is provided, which is adapted to engage and eject the store. The iston assembly is slidably mounted within the cylinder and telescopically movable over the fixed tubular member from a first position, wherein the piston assembly covers a portion of the first array of orifices, to a second position, wherein the first array of orifices is uncovered. Typically, the pressure level of the source of fluid varies, generally as a function of the flow into the cylinder during the stroke of the piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 4257639
Abstract: A device is disclosed for ejecting a store from an aircraft stores rack. The device comprises a tubular member having an internal bore along its longitudinal axis. A plurality of resilient lug retainer fingers are attached at one end of the tubular member and extend about and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tubular member, movable from a first position, in engagement with a lug mounted on the store, to a second position, disengaged from the lug. A collar is mounted about the tubular member movable from a first position, wherein the collar holds the retaining fingers in engagement with the lug, to a second position, wherein the collar is disengaged from the retaining fingers. An ejector ram is mounted within the bore of the tubular member.
