  • Patent number: 6125937
Abstract: A method of completing a subterranean well and associated apparatus therefor provide efficient operation and convenience in completions where production of fluids from a lateral wellbore and a parent wellbore is desired. In one disclosed embodiment, the invention provides a method of completing a subterranean well wherein a tubular member having an aperture formed through a sidewall portion thereof is inserted through a junction of multiple wellbore portions. The aperture is positioned so that it faces one of the wellbore portions. Apparatus provided by the present invention include various forms of flow diverters which may be utilized in the method.

  • Patent number: 5884704
Abstract: A method of completing a subterranean well and associated apparatus therefor provide reduced trips into the well, efficient operation, reduced costs, and increased functionality in completions where production of fluids from a lateral wellbore and a parent wellbore is desired. In one disclosed embodiment, the invention permits simultaneous conveying into the well of multiple tubing strings, the tubing strings being automatically directed to their respective wellbores. A selective deflection member is capable of selecting an appropriate tubing string and deflecting it into a lateral wellbore, while permitting another tubing string to pass axially therethrough to a lower parent wellbore.

  • Patent number: 4673041
Abstract: A remotely operable connector having releasably connectable male and female members. The male member sealingly engages the female member on connection. The female member houses radially moveable dogs which may be locked in connecting engagement in a groove on the male connector by a lock sleeve longitudinally moveable over the dogs. The sleeve, which is biased to dogs locked position, moves to dogs unlocked position in response to pressure applied to a first inlet and may be retained in dogs locked position by continued application of pressure to a second inlet. The female connector houses a pressure lock which prevents movement of the lock sleeve from locked position on application of pressure to the first inlet, if there is pressure in the connector bore. The connector is unlocked for disconnect when there is no pressure in the connector bore and pressure is applied through the first inlet, moving the sleeve to dogs unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 4381737
Abstract: An improved device for fluidly sealing rotary valves to the housing of a rotary valved internal combustion engine. The device comprises self-lubricating sleeve-like members which are compressed between the rotary valves and engine housing. The sleeve-like members lubricate the cylindrical surfaces of the rotary valves, fluidly seal the valves to the housing, and provide bearing surfaces which maintain the rotary valves in their proper position in the housing.
