  • Publication number: 20220064176
Abstract: Enantioselective total syntheses of the anticancer isocarbostyril alkaloids (+)-7-deoxypancratistatin, (+)-pancratistatin, (+)-lycoricidine, and (+)-narciclasine are described. Our strategy for accessing this unique class of natural products is based on the development of a Ni-catalyzed dearomative trans-1,2-carboamination of benzene. The effectiveness of this dearomatization approach is notable, as only two additional olefin functionalizations are needed to construct the fully decorated aminocyclitol cores of these alkaloids. Installation of the lactam ring has been achieved through several pathways and a direct interconversion between natural products was established via a late-stage C-7 cupration. Using this synthetic blueprint, we were able to produce natural products on a gram scale and provide tailored analogs with improved activity, solubility, and metabolic stability.

  • Patent number: 10336737
Abstract: Described herein is the development of an arenophile-mediated, nickel-catalyzed dearomative trans-1,2-carboamination protocol. A range of readily available aromatic compounds was converted to the corresponding dienes using Grignard reagents as nucleophiles. This strategy provided products with exclusive trans-selectivity and high enantioselectivity was observed in case of benzene and naphthalene. The utility of this methodology was showcased by controlled and stereoselective preparation of small, functionalized molecules. A concise synthesis of (+)-pancratistatin and (+)-7-deoxypancratistatin from benzene using an enantioselective, dearomative carboamination strategy has been achieved. This approach, in combination with the judicious choice of subsequent olefin-type difunctionalization reactions, permits rapid and controlled access to a hexasubstituted core. Finally, minimal use of intermediary steps as well as direct, late stage C-7 hydroxylation provides both natural products in six and seven operations.

  • Publication number: 20130110799
Abstract: In one implementation, an apparatus includes a plurality of data access object (DAO) interfaces to facilitate interactions with a plurality of heterogeneous data sources, in which each of the plurality of DAO interfaces is to facilitate interaction with a different type of data source. The apparatus also includes a controller to receive an interaction request, to determine a data source of the plurality of data sources that is to service the interaction request, to select the DAO interface associated with the determined data source, and to implement the selected DAO interface to delegate communication of the interaction request for servicing of the interaction request by the determined data source.

  • Patent number: 6244788
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for supplying solder balls to a receptacle. The apparatus includes a reservoir for storing the solder balls and a flow path. The flow path includes a first end connected to and in fluid communication with the reservoir and a second end for supplying the solder balls to the receptacle. The apparatus includes a flow actuator in fluid communication with the flow path to actuate the flow of the solder balls from the reservoir through the flow path to the receptacle. A trap is disposed in the flow path for trapping the solder balls and stopping the flow of the solder balls to the receptacle when the flow actuator is not actuated. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5918792
Abstract: The array of recesses in a ball grid array carrier or (device) are populated with solder balls through a closely spaced tooling plate or stencil which has a like array of apertures. A solder bin is moved along side rails over the stencil allowing solder balls to fill the apertures in the stencil settling on the corresponding recesses and held there by adhesive. Excess solder balls are moved along by the movement of the bin. The bin is held in close contact with the stencil to avoid misplacement of the balls by bowing the stencil and by forcing it into a plane coplanar with the bottom of the bin. Alternative techniques are magnetic or vacuum areas of the bottom of the bin to ensure complete contact with the stencil.

  • Patent number: 5646812
Abstract: A telephone line surge protector module with fast-acting, high resistance heat coil assembly includes a plurality of turns of resistive heating wire having a conductive core, a heat-resisting insulative coating, and a relatively high tensile-strength serving for resisting manufacturing stresses. The serving permits a number of turns of the wire to be tightly wound about a bobbin, without being damaged due to stresses encountered in the manufacturing process. The heat resisting insulative coating prevents shorting between the turns at high temperatures, yet is thin enough so that inter-turn thermal conductance is not degraded. The serving is preferably formed of a material that softens or liquifies at high temperatures to enhance inter-turn thermal conductance. The module with fast-acting coil is suitable for protecting sensitive electronic digital switches.

  • Patent number: 5139373
Abstract: A system and related method or process for producing a pattern for a lens to be formed and then placed in an opening in an eyeglass frame utilizes a frame tracing apparatus for providing coordinate data characterizing the size and shape of the lens opening in associated one specific eyeglass frame for transmission to a pattern generator having a cutter which moves relative to a blank fixtured at a work station in the generator to cut a pattern having the desired size and shape. A number of frame tracing apparatus are arranged to transmit data to a pattern generator via a central data base computer coupled to the frame tracing apparatus by a communications link whereby the pattern generator subsequently receives the dimensional data corresponding to the specific lens opening traced by the frame tracing apparatus to generate the desired pattern from blanks continuously and automatically fed to the pattern generator.

  • Patent number: 4761315
Abstract: A blank having a rectangular shaped body from which a lens pattern is cut to the desired size and shape of a frame lens opening is connected to other identical blanks to form a chain for continuous feeding to a lens pattern generator. The blanks have ball and socket hinge members symmetrically arranged on each edge with a ball hinge member on one edge being opposite a socket hinge member on the other edge. The hinge members are offset with respect to a plane passing through the center of the body between the top and bottom faces of the blank so that the pivot axis of the ball and socket hinge members on one edge is in the plane of the top face and the pivot axis of the ball and socket hinge members on the other edge is in the plane of the bottom face. The blanks are connected together in a like edge-to-like edge fashion and indicia provided to identify the nasal side of the blank alternates from side to side when the blanks are interconnected in a chain.
