  • Publication number: 20200199304
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of thermoplastic polymer particles include combining a first solution having a polyetherimide, a polycarbonate, or a combination thereof and an organic solvent with an aqueous solution including a surfactant, and agitating the resulting mixture using a shear force generating device operating at a preselected peripheral rotational speed to provide an emulsion. The emulsion is heated to remove the organic solvent and provide an aqueous polymer dispersion including the thermoplastic polymer particles.

  • Publication number: 20170226663
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of making fibers comprises: flowing a dispersion medium through a reaction tube, wherein the dispersion medium comprises an anti-solvent; adjusting a temperature of a polymer solution to form a stable polymer solution, wherein the polymer solution comprises a polymer and a solvent; introducing the stable polymer solution into the dispersion medium to form a polymer dispersion comprising the dispersion medium and a plurality of polymer components of the polymer solution; and shearing the dispersed-phase components by flowing the dispersion system through the reaction tube, wherein a plurality of fibers having an average diameter of less than or equal to 10 ?m are formed.

  • Patent number: 6362304
Abstract: A polycarbonate powder having a relatively lower water content may be produced by preheating a solution of polycarbonate in a nonaqueous solvent (e.g., methylene chloride) prior to subjecting said solution to steam precipitation.
