  • Patent number: 5238264
Abstract: The door assembly for an air bag opening includes a door having a rigid substrate panel extending across the opening and carrying a decorative trim to normally conceal the air bag opening. A primary hinge acts between an edge of the rigid substrate panel and the vehicle to enable opening movement of the door about an axis defined by the primary hinge means. The rigid substrate panel has a weakened portion extending across the panel in parallel spaced relation from the primary hinge axis to enable folding of the door by the deploying air bag about a secondary hinge axis defined by the weakened portion. The primary hinge means is preferably a hinge panel of rigid but bendable metal construction which extends into engagement along the underside of the rigid substrate panel into proximity with the weakened portion thereof so that the rigid hinge panel reinforces the portion of the door underlaid by the hinge strap.

  • Patent number: 4271769
Abstract: A machine for producing a textile product, the machine having a needle provided with a leading end portion which extends non-axially with respect to the main portion of the needle, means for reciprocating the needle, in a predetermined needle reciprocation stroke, into and out of backing material and for effecting relative traversing movement therebetween, and means for ensuring that the leading end portion is inclined away from the direction of the said relative traversing movement throughout the latter, the said leading end portion having an axial length at least as great at the length of the needle reciprocation stroke.

  • Patent number: 4109593
Abstract: A machine for making a textile product comprising a rotatably mounted needle carrier shaft which is arranged to be set in a plurality of predetermined angular positions, yarn feeding means for feeding at least one yarn to a needle carried by said shaft, means for reciprocating the said needle carrier shaft so that the said yarn may be applied to a base material, and control means which are arranged to be programmed to rotate the said needle carrier shaft to the said predetermined angular positions.
