    Abstract: As a live finger is rolled across a glass platen in an optical scan fingerprint apparatus, a series of lights turn on and off to demarcate the line along the platen at which the optical scan is being taken. In this fashion, the finger applied to the platen can be rotated across the platen at a rate that keeps sufficient track with the scan to provide a complete (nail-to-nail) full roll scan.
