In the present invention, windowing operations are applied, not in time and space as in traditional methods, but in frequency and wavenumber. This windowing in frequency and wavenumber is done implicitly by a cascade of separable one dimensional time and spatial filtering operations (104). These filters are Gaussian functions modulated by a complex exponential. By using a variety of these filters, the input data can be decomposed into a series of slopes and frequencies that can be reassembled to the original by applying the adjoint operation followed by a weighted sum (108). This decomposed domain of time, space, frequency and slope can be used as a domain where a priori information about the output can be applied in a straightforward manner.

    Abstract: A line protector is provided which includes positive temperature coefficient resistors in the circuit which are thermally coupled to voltage clamping devices which require protection from failures caused by overheating from conducting excessive amounts of current for a time sufficient to cause device breakdown. This may compensate for the performance variability of the positive temperature coefficient resistors so as to improve the likelihood that they will experience a sufficient temperature increase to switch before the voltage clamping device reaches a breakdown temperature. Furthermore, a line protector which may provide protection against current flow to the communications circuit from overvoltage conditions on the circuit side of the line protector or by a ground potential difference between the line protector and the communications circuit is also provided including positive temperature coefficient resistors positioned between the overvoltage line protector circuits and the communications circuit.

    Abstract: A vent-safe protector for a telecommunications gas tube (102) includes two electrodes (108,140) (150',140) separated by a non-linear resistive material (134). Each electrode is connected to a gas tube protector terminal (108, 142) to provide an alternate discharge path if the gas tube (102) fails. The non-linear resistive material (134) is substantially non-conductive when the electrical potential between the electrodes is less than the material's breakdown voltage V.sub.B. Above that voltage it becomes conductive and supports a plasma discharge therethrough, effecting a sudden increase in conductivity between the electrodes for discharging high energy potentials with a voltage foldback functionally analogous to the foldback behavior of the gas tube protector.

    Abstract: A mechanism for preventing removal of a ramp from its storage space beneath the floor of a truck body when the door for the truck body opening is latched closed. The ramp is insertable into and is removable from the ramp storage space through an opening beneath the truck body opening. The door latching mechanism includes a latch bolt movably mounted on the door and engagable with a catch pin in the truck body floor. The latch bolt carries a pawl which is engagable with a portion of the ramp to prevent removal of the ramp when the ramp is properly stored. The pawl also prevents the latch bolt from engaging the catch pin if the ramp is improperly stored.
