    Abstract: An oil containment system and installation method for a transformer mounted on a transformer pad, comprising a plurality of interlocking open-topped containment units. Each of the containment units having a base, a sump formed with two vertically-aligned sidewalls, a first end, and a second end. The sidewalls have support struts extending across the sump and a grate member. At least one of the ends includes a connecting member or a receiving member, the connecting member sized to be placed within the receiving member sized to interlock adjacent containment units. A discriminative outlet is disposed within an opening in the sidewall and includes a filtration media for adsorbing oil from a fluid and subsequently blocking oil flow through the discriminative outlet. The interlocking containment units are secured to the transformer pad around a peripheral edge to restrict the migration of oil to an outside portion of said oil containment system.

    Abstract: A composite absorbent filter media having adsorption and/or absorption properties for the filtration of ester oils from a liquid includes a graphene and/or graphite composite mixed into a final emulsion, which is subsequently heat treated or cured, cooled, compressed, and dried. The resultant adsorption/absorption media is then disposed within a plug structure having an ingress and egress for liquids mixed with ester oils to pass through. Alternatively, the resultant adsorption/absorption media is disposed into a fabric and formed as a wall used to enclose oil-filled equipment. The media adsorbs/absorbs the ester oils from the liquid, while allowing the liquid to disperse and pass through.

The polishing filter removes excess synthetic ester-based fluids from a water/oil emulsion fluid flowing through a barrier canister disposed within the sump pump barrier above the polishing filter and releases a resultant filtered fluid.     Abstract: A novel filtration media employing polymeric absorbents comprising a material selected from the group consisting of styrene, pentadiene, cyclopentadiene, butylene, ethylene, isoprene, butadiene, propylene and mixtures thereof; and a filtration enabler intimately mixed with the polymeric absorbent. Upon contact with a hydrocarbon containing liquid, the liquid partially dissolves the polymeric absorbent forming a partial filtration barrier prior to the filtration media substantially absorbing the hydrocarbons, and allowing hydrocarbon-free liquid to flow through the filtration media. In situations of a leak or spill wherein an excess of hydrocarbons are present, the filtration media forms a plug to seal and prevent further discharge of the hydrocarbons. The filtration media may be placed inside a portable container for insertion into an existing drain such that hydrocarbon containing liquid is filtered through the device allowing hydrocarbon-free liquid to flow from the device.
