Publication number: 20140333097Abstract: A vehicle panel with a folded-over or wrapped edge is disclosed. The vehicle panel comprises a main body portion. The main body portion includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is formed of a substantially rigid material and has a first surface, a second surface and an edge. The second layer is coupled to the second surface of the first layer and formed of a substantially flexible material. The vehicle panel also comprises a flap integrally formed with the main body portion at the edge and comprises at least the second layer. The vehicle panel further comprises a hinge separating the flap from the main body portion, the hinge is defined by at least a portion of the first layer having a reduced thickness. The flap is folded back about the hinge towards the first surface of the first layer to substantially conceal the edge.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2014Publication date: November 13, 2014Applicant: JOHNSON CONTROLS TECHNOLOGY COMPANYInventors: CHRISTOPHER SCOTT KRING, TODD D. Publication number: 20100264684Abstract: A visor (100) for a vehicle is disclosed. The visor comprises a visor body formed of a vehicle panel material having a rigid core (122) and a cover layer (124) coupled to an outer surface of the rigid core. The visor body has a first body portion (116) and a second body portion (118). The visor further comprises a carrier (104) configured to support at least one accessory associated with the visor. The first body portion and the second body portion at least partially conceal the carrier. A method of manufacturing a visor for a vehicle is also disclosed wherein the visor is formed from a material used to form a vehicle panel such as a vehicle headliner.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2008Publication date: October 21, 2010Inventors: Christopher Kring, Ben E. Patent number: 5408058Abstract: A momentary electrical switch includes fixed contacts fixed relative to a switch housing and slidable contacts located within the housing. A contact operating mechanism includes a manual control knob, slide element and a support attached to the slide for supporting the slidable contacts, the contact operating mechanism being movable axially in a first direction against a compression spring when the knob is pulled. An interlock element extends beyond the periphery of the slide to engage the casing to prevent movement of the contact operating mechanism when the knob is pulled. A spring biased interlock release stem is moved axially in an opposing second direction by pressing on a pushbutton to disengage the interlock element from the casing. The movable switch contacts are moved in the first direction relative to the fixed contacts only by concurrently pressing in one direction on the pushbutton while pulling on the knob in the opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1993Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: William J. Patent number: 5367996Abstract: A cold start control apparatus for diesel engines includes a cold start switch, engine temperature and speed sensors and a transistor all connected to a programmable controller. The transistor is connected in a series circuit with a cold start relay and the series circuit is connected to the run/crank positions of an ignition switch. The relay has a pair of contacts through which a battery voltage may be applied to a cold start assist apparatus provided for the engine. The cold start assist apparatus may be a thermostart element such as a glow plug ignitor, or a solenoid controlled ether injection system. A permanent memory in the controller stores an indication of the type of cold start assist apparatus provided for the engine. The controller senses for actuation of the cold start switch and applies a signal to the transistor thus turning it on if (1) the ignition key is in the run or crank position, (2) the engine is cold and (3) the cold start assist apparatus is a thermostart element.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1993Date of Patent: November 29, 1994Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: William J.
