    Abstract: Photographic assemblages and processes are described wherein a certain stripping agent is employed to enable an image-receiving layer to be separated from the rest of the assemblage after processing. The stripping agent comprises a straight chain alkyl or polyethylene oxide perfluoroalkylated ester or perfluoroalkylated ether, and preferably has the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl or substituted alkyl group having from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms or an aryl or substituted aryl group having from about 6 to about 10 carbon atoms; ##STR2## R.sup.3 is H or R.sup.1 ; n is an integer of from about 4 to about 20; andx and y each independently represents an integer of from about 2 to about 50, andz represents an integer of from 1 to about 50.Less bulky black-and-white or color prints or transparencies can thereby be obtained from integral assemblages. Materials from the discarded layers may also be recycled.

    Abstract: An elongated filmstrip is provided having two superposed sheets of photographic material helically wound in a cartridge. Typically, one of the sheets is a photosensitive image receiver and the other is a coated processing web. The lateral edges of the filmstrip are sealed to inhibit leakage of processing composition which is spread between the sheets during image development. The sheet which is on the outside of each roll convolution will have a longer path length than the inner sheet, and has sufficient elasticity to accommodate the path length difference. The elastic sheet is provided with a strippable, relatively non-elastic support before being transported through the coating machinery. The sheet, together with its coating and non-elastic support is then adhered to the other sheet of the filmstrip and the support then removed.

    Abstract: In a diffusion-transfer processor for use with successive pairs of donors and receivers, back-side wetting of the receivers is prevented by (a) passing the meniscus of activator, which collects at the entry nip of the lamination rollers, through a gap between the rollers after exit of each pair from the rollers, and (b) removing the activator passed through the gap from the roller that contacts the back sides of the receivers to dry that roller before contacting the back side of the next receiver.

    Abstract: A processing apparatus has a processing chamber configured to receive a plurality of cylindrically-shaped film units. The film units comprise a plurality of film discs supported by a central aperture on an elongated shaft, in spaced relation and with the disc faces normal to the shaft axis, and end drive discs slightly larger in diameter than the film discs. The drive discs have a guide lug extending from their exposed sides and guide grooves are provided in the processing chamber interior. The first inserted film unit is directed into driving engagement with a drive means located at the lower portion of the chamber and subsequently inserted film units are directed into driving relation with the unit therebeneath. Processing fluids are sequentially introduced and discharged from the chamber with the film units rotating to effect film development.
