  • Patent number: 5024827
Abstract: A new form of titanium dioxide has been developed in which the particles have a substantially rectangular cross-section with a width to length ratio of at least 0.8:1.0. A most desirable cubic form of anatase titanium dioxide is included. The products are formed by hydrolyzing a solution containing TiOCl.sub.2 species under autothermal pressure.

  • Patent number: 4868509
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting system failure in a magnetron power supply circuit. The apparatus is capable of providing an indication as to whether it is the power supply or the magnetron which has failed. A dual half wave doubler power supply circuit is provided and the currents corresponding to the respective dual portions are measured. The currents are compared to detect a failure of one of the dual power supply circuits while a sum of the currents may detect a failure of the magnetron.

  • Patent number: 4554534
Abstract: A load sensor generates a signal representing the amount of force applied to a workpiece during each blow of a multi-blow forming process. In a two blow process, a first amplifier is connected to the load sensor for amplifying the load sensor signals representing both blows in the forming process. A first gain control circuit is connected to the first amplifier for adjusting the amount of amplification to a first predetermined level. A logic control circuit is connected to the first amplifier for generating a first enabling signal during the first blow in the forming process and a second enabling signal during the second blow in the forming process. A second amplifier is connected to the first amplifier for amplifying the load sensor signals representing only the first blows in the forming process. A second gain control circuit is connected to the second amplifier for adjusting the amount of amplification to a second predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 4534576
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transporting firewood are provided. The apparatus includes a container having an upright portion and a lower portion extending outwardly from the upright portion. Edges of the upright portion define an upper opening, and edges of the lower portion define a lower opening. Firewood is placed in the upper opening and removed from the lower opening. Doors are provided to cover the upper and lower openings. Wheels are provided to transport the container from one location to another, and belt and sprocket assemblies are provided for enabling smooth transport of the container over obstacles.

  • Patent number: 4199758
Abstract: An apparatus for indicating a quantity of electrical information in decimal notation. An input signal having a voltage level proportional to the quantity to be indicated is compared with a plurality of decimally related reference voltage levels to generate a separate decade enable signal for each reference voltage level which is equal to or less than the input signal voltage level. The input signal and the decade enable signals are utilized to generate a units signal having a voltage level proportional to the difference between the input signal voltage level and the voltage level of the largest reference voltage for which a decade enable signal has been generated. The units signal voltage level is compared with the reference voltage levels to generate a separate units enable signal for each of the reference voltage levels which are equal to or less than the units signal voltage level.

  • Patent number: 4136553
Abstract: A method of accurately verifying the pressure contained in a sealed pressurized fuel rod by utilizing a pressure balance measurement technique wherein an end of the fuel rod extends through and is sealed in a wall of a small chamber. The chamber is pressurized to the nominal (desired) fuel rod pressure and the fuel rod is then pierced to interconnect the chamber and fuel rod. The deviation of chamber pressure is noted. The final combined pressure of the fuel rod and drill chamber is substantially equal to the nominal rod pressure; departure of the combined pressure from nominal is in direct proportion to departure of rod pressure from nominal. The maximum error in computing the rod pressure from the deviation of the combined pressure from nominal is estimated at plus or minus 3.0 psig. for rod pressures within the specified production limits. If the rod pressure is corrected for rod void volume using a digital printer data record, the accuracy improves to about plus or minus 2.0 psig.
