An illustrative embodiment of the engine includes a cylinder, a piston reciprocally mounted in the cylinder and emitting a static magnetic field, a magnet assembly provided in the cylinder and emitting a dynamic magnetic field having the same magnetic polarity as the static magnetic field and a crankshaft drivingly engaged by the piston.
