  • Patent number: 4957424
Abstract: A concrete pipe making machine having a combined vibrating core and counter rotating packerhead assembly is used with a mold to prepack and vibrate concrete within the mold to produce concrete pipe. A controller is programmed in response to packing force of the packerhead assembly to control the discharge of concrete into the mold and the lift speed of the core and packerhead assembly to produce concrete pipe having uniform density through out the length of the pipe.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 1989
Date of Patent: September 18, 1990
    Assignee: Hydrotile Machinery Company
Inventors: William J. Mitchell, Navarro T. Fosse
  • Patent number: 4592220
Abstract: A system for the automatic adjustment of the pressure pad holding force in accordance with the thickness of the workpiece and the forming tool stroke includes a force transducer and a displacement transducer. The force transducer is used to monitor the force between the pressure pad and the workpiece. The output of the displacement transducer is continually read as the part is being formed. The workpiece thickness and forming tool stroke are used to calculate the optimum holding force. The pressure of a fluid system is adjusted to change the holding force to the optimum value.

Date of Patent: June 3, 1986
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
Inventors: Miguel R. Martinez, Zygmunt M. Andrevski, William J. Mitchell, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4575341
Abstract: Apparatus and method for training pilots in the operation of aircraft. The apparatus includes a means for generating a generally horizontal air stream mounted on movable support means. The air stream means and support means are tethered to an aircraft and their movement is responsive to movement of the aircraft during flight training.

Inventors: Billy O. Bryant, William J. Mitchell, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4548066
Abstract: A system for the in press measurement of the thickness of a workpiece includes a force transducer and a displacement transducer. The force transducer is used to detect the contact between the forming tool and the workpiece. The output of the displacement transducer is continually read and recorded at the instant the force transducer indicates the contact between the forming tool and the workpiece. The output of the displacement transducer is correlated to known thicknesses and thus is indicative of the thickness of the unknown specimen.

Inventors: Miguel R. Martinez, William J. Mitchell, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4058210
Abstract: A portable tool case having a handle mounted for vertically sliding movement relative to the body of the case. Dual lid sections are hinged to the upper edges of opposing sides. When the lids are closed, and the handle placed in its lower position and locked, it abuts against the lids and prevents them from opening. Special storing and securing means for tools and equipment are provided within the case.
