  • Patent number: 9339108
Abstract: An article support, such as a shelf, is securely attachable at a plurality of locations along a generally vertical support or rail. The article support includes a support-engaging portion having one or more tabs, at least one of which is a locking tab having a forward-extending tooth that engages the vertical support, when the tab or tabs extend through slots in the support. Optionally, a biasing element urges the article away from the support to maintain secure engagement of the locking tab with the support. The resulting shelving system or article support system is resistant to accidental detachment of the article supports from the supports and permits relatively small adjustment intervals for the article supports along the supports.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 2015
Date of Patent: May 17, 2016
    Assignee: ALTRIA GROUP DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
Inventors: Dathan G. Zang, Donald M. Farnquist, II, Benjamin B. Edinger, William J. Parsons

  • Patent number: 5161531
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring oxidative metabolism in an internal organ or tissue of interest wherein a percutaneous intravascular approach is utilized to bring a light-transmitting and receiving scope into contact with the site to be assessed. The tip of the scope is adapted so that the light-transmitting optical fiber(s) and light-receiving optical fiber(s) are in divergent relationship so as to increase the photon pathlength through the tissue of interest to provide optical information from a substantial volume of tissue relative thereto.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 3, 1992
Date of Patent: November 10, 1992
    Assignee: Duke University
