  • Patent number: 4890428
Abstract: A clip for securing the top channel of a partition wall to a beam of a continuously extending suspended grid ceiling. The clip has a flat base and diagonally positioned hooks on the base. The clip is applied to the beam by rotating the hooks onto the beam flanges where the clip is locked in place by locking tabs on the base.

  • Patent number: 4864791
Abstract: A fire strip for use in a suspended metallic grid ceiling structure. The strip extends between grid members in the ceiling. During a fire, the strip helps keep the grid intact, and keeps the ceiling tile in place, whereby the ceiling continues to act as a fire barrier.

  • Patent number: 4827681
Abstract: A fire-resistant suspended ceiling grid structure having cross tees and main beams, to support ceiling tiles. The structure has shear means to permit a cross tee to expand into a main beam during a fire. The shear means have a notch behind a transverse tab formed in the cross tee which acts as a stop against the main beam in normal conditions, and shears or bends during a fire to permit the cross tee to expand into the main beam and still hold the tile in place.

  • Patent number: 4785603
Abstract: In a suspended ceiling grid structure adapted to support ceiling tiles or the like, connecting apparatus between ceiling grid inverted T main and cross members disposed at right angles to each other and having upright central fins and bottom horizontal flanges comprise a tongue extending from each end of the cross members, a locking tab formed in the tongue of the cross members that is V-shaped in cross section and contacts the web of the main member when a cross member has been inserted through a slot in the main member, an opening in the tongue of the cross member that allows the locking tab to flex back when the cross member is inserted through a slot in the main member, a fingernail and fingernail interlocking pocket formed in each end of the cross member to interlock oppositely disposed cross members together and an interlock release pocket formed in the bottom of the fingernail interlocking pocket to disengage interlocked cross members without damage to either cross member.

  • Patent number: 4713919
Abstract: A method of making an inverted T shaped ceiling grid member comprises the steps of folding a sheet of metal to form a vertical central web with a bulb at the top and having two web sidewalls with a pair of oppositely disposed horizontal flanges extending outwardly from the bottom of the web for supporting ceiling tiles, and laser welding the two web sidewalls together by applying a laser beam thereto to form a laser weld to increase the strength and rigidity of the ceiling grid member. A cap may be attached to the flanges to cover the bottom of the flanges. A metal inverted T shaped ceiling grid member comprises a vertical web having a bulb at the top and having two web sidewalls, a pair of oppositely disposed horizontal flanges extending outwardly from the bottom of the web, and a laser weld joining the two web sidewalls together. A cap may be attached to the flanges to cover the bottom of the flanges.
