  • Patent number: 7234628
Abstract: The present invention includes a blank and container wherein the container includes truncated corner panels and the container is configured to attach or otherwise sit upon a supporting structure, such as, without limitation, a pallet. The truncated corners of the container coupled with the non-truncated corners of the supporting structure cause the corners of the supporting structure to extend beyond the perimeter of the container. Corner tabs having hazard-warning indicia upon an upper surface are configured to extend over the exposed supporting structure corners. Consequently, attention is drawn to the extended supporting structure corners thereby helping to prevent tripping over the pallet corners The indicia may be brightly colored stripes, solid fields or any other indicia. The indicia may be printed and formed in same process as printing labels on the container, thereby requiring no additional manufacturing steps.

  • Publication number: 20040104138
Abstract: The container 10 comprises a bottom cover 12, a plurality of stackable trays 14 for holding produce, a sleeve 18, and a top cover 20. Each tray 14 is filled with produce and placed within the bottom cover 12. After the trays 14 are stacked, a film may be wrapped around the trays 14 to stabilize the produce. The sleeve 18 is then lowered over the trays 14 and the container 10 is capped with the top cover 20. When assembled, the container 10 may be secured by securement members, such as straps 64, and placed on a base member 22 for supporting the container and facilitating the shipping of the container. At the point of sale, the top cover 20 and sleeve 18 may be removed, exposing the produce, thereby forming a display bin capable of displaying the shipped produce to customers for purchase.

  • Patent number: 6685084
Abstract: A bulk bin container and blank is provided having container walls formed of triple wall paperboard material. At least one tear tape is attached laterally to the inside surface of the triple wall material. The tear tape includes first and second ends, with the tear tape itself defining upper and lower container portions. An opening mechanism is provided at the tear tape first end for starting the tape. During use, an operator grasps the opening mechanism and pulls outward and upward on the tear tape, thereby stepping through the triple wall material and separating the upper container portion from the lower container portion.

  • Patent number: 4729505
Abstract: A heavy-duty shipping container for bulk flowable materials is constructed with an inner tubular sleeve of substantially circular cross section and an outer sleeve of polygonal cross section; the inner and outer sleeves are composed of multi-wall corrugated fibreboard, each designed to accommodate and support a portion of the stacking load of a like heavy-duty shipping container; the inner sleeve being supported by a support pad initially with its upper edge extended outwardly of the upper edge of the outer sleeve; and the support pad being deformable to allow the inner sleeve to displace into the outer sleeve so that both upper edges are in the same horizontal plane after the application of a predetermined pressure of the inner sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4706850
Abstract: An improved push/turn tap and drain spout fitment for a multi-wall fiberboard container with a plastic retainer for retaining bulk flowable materials including a polygonal flange mounted within a similarly shaped opening in the fiberboard. A valve tube extendable through a spout assembly. The valve tube includes prongs for engaging a bung which is threadably connected to the spout assembly to seal an opening in the plastic retainer. The valve tube, though sealingly coupled to the spout assembly, can be moveably manipulated from the outside of the container to cause the bung to become disengaged from the spout assembly.
