  • Patent number: 10126222
Abstract: The present application relates generally rheometers. In one aspect, misalignment of the air cylinder with respect to the cross-head is accommodated using a flexible coupling between the air cylinder and the cross-head so as to prevent binding and stuttering of the machine due to misalignment.

  • Patent number: 5181704
Abstract: A carousel device for collating product samples includes pivoting arms provided with suction cups attached to the ends thereof that swing in a first direction toward adjacent bins until the cups contact and attach to samples stored in the bins. The arms then pivot in the reverse direction to a position in which a hole in the sample is engaged by a pin attached to one of a plurality of trolleys propelled around the carousel and past the arms by a moving chain. The vacuum is released as the trolleys move onward to another set of arms where an additional sample is placed on the pin. The process continues as the trolleys make a complete circuit of the carousel and collect a collated set of each of the samples contained in the bins.

  • Patent number: 4944825
Abstract: Apparatus and method for applying tubular labels to empty or filled product containers at a labeling station including a reciprocally moveable labeling assembly and a container advancing mechanism including a pair of confronting, rotatable star wheels. The star wheels include arms for engaging and holding a container to be labeled at a label applying position. The star wheels operate to stabilize the container until the labeling applying assembly engages the container. The star wheels then move out of the labeling station to provide clearance for the label applying assembly. A cam drive system is utilized to both reciprocate the label applying assembly and the star wheel mechanism. Sensors monitor torque in the star wheels and terminate operation should excessive torque be encountered. An additional star wheel and associated guide are used to advance a container from either an inline or side conveyor to a container presenting position.

  • Patent number: 4685364
Abstract: A rotary slicer 20 for comestible products. A stationary magazine 26 supports a product upright as a rotary table 38 carries a rotary knife 40 in an orbit that passes beneath the magazine. A freely rotatable center plate 80 of the blade facilitates movement of the blade through the product. Orbiting movement of the blade is automatically stopped with the blade remote from the magazine and electrical interlocks 109, 112 prevent operation without all protective safety covers 24, 102, 106 in place. A removable sharpener 172 is attachable to the top of table and operates with the blade flush with the table top. A product follower 118 within the magazine holds the product in place and urges it downward during slicing. The follower in part extends outward between the magazine 26 and magazine cover 106 to allow manual movement and release from a latched raised position, after the magazine cover is closed.
